Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, with services covering the local authority areas of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. The Trust is part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS) supporting a population of around 1.6 million people.
We have three main hospitals providing acute services to around 330,000 local residents. The organisation also provides specialist tertiary care for cardiac and haematology services, delivers community health services to over 445,000 residents including those in North Lancashire and hosts the National Artificial Eye Service across England. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Sexual Health services team based in West Lancashire. The job is 30.75 hours per week and flexibility to work across our sites in Skelmersdale and Ormskirk is required.
Lancashire Sexual Health services is part of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and provides contraception and sexual health services throughout the county,
We operate from several clinical hubs based in Blackpool, Preston, Lancaster, Burnley and Ormskirk,

The main duties of this role are :-
Assisting clinicians & being the patients advocate during examination and procedures.
Administrative duties, recording of observations such as :-Blood pressure, height, weights and venepuncture.
The successful candidate would be expected to be flexible and prepared to work some evenings and Saturdays.

The post holder will be required to assist doctors and nurses in order to provide a high standard of care to patients attending all areas of Sexual Health Services ensuring they promote the patient dignity and comfort.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To assist the Doctor or Nurse throughout the clinical examination or clinical procedure of patients in sexual health clinics.
- To offer emotional support to patients during the examination procedure.
- To act as a chaperone to both medical and nursing staff as required according to trust policy.

You are encouraged where possible, to register for the DBS update service. This is an annual registration fee of £16. By registering for the update service you will not have the additional cost of repeated disclosures.
Should you withdraw your application, you may be required to reimburse the cost of the DBS check.
DBS checks remain free of charge for volunteer positions.
