Job overview
We are offering an exciting and highly sought-after opportunity for UCLH staff in NMC Nursing Associate* roles to develop their career to Registered Nurses via the Registered Nurse Apprenticeship APL route at UCLH.
This is a great way to become a nurse in a busy London trust without paying university fees! As a Registered Nurse Apprentice (RNA) you will:
· Have a strong desire and passion to access a career as a Registered Nurse
· Be employed full-time for the duration of the apprenticeship (usually 18-24 months), in their current band 4 Nursing Associate position*
· Have your university tuition fees paid by UCLH
· Work and learn whilst you progress to registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC)
· Be expected to work shifts on a rostered basis (days/nights/weekends/some Bank Holidays)
· Be offered a job at UCLH as a Registered Nurse upon successful completion of the programme
Successful applicants will combine working in a host ward/department whilst undertaking an NMC accredited programme including clinical placements. RNAs are expected to balance study, academic deadlines and working for the duration of the apprenticeship.

Applicants are expected to meet the following eligibility criteria:
· NMC registered Nursing Associate
· Evidence of academic level 5 Nursing Associate qualification and Foundation Degree
· Evidence of English and maths qualification to GCSE level grade A-C/4 or above (or equivalent such as maths & English Functional skills at level 2)
· Employed as a Nurse Associate for at least 12 months, working full time, by the start of the programme
· Completion of Preceptorship programme by the start of the programme
· Employed by UCLH at least 6 months (completed probation period)
· 100% compliant with mandatory and statutory training
· Line Manager’s approval and professional recommendation
· Right to work in UK as a nurse
· Resident in UK for 3 years

*Applicants who are not Nursing Associates but have completed components of 2018 NMC programmes should discuss their situation with the education team. Please note, all other RN apprentices are employed in band 3 positions.

*Applicants who are successful at the employer led interview will be required to attend an interview with the university as well as maths and English assessment. Applicants must be successful at both interviews and assessment to be accepted onto the registered nurse apprenticeship.
