The apprenticeship involves on the job training and a requirement to attend classroom lectures delivered by Bradford College one day a week. Students access these classroom sessions remotely from home or from the work place. The course has a blended learning approach consisting of a combination of skills work based units covered in the workplace and knowledge based units covered by assignments set by the college. Professional discussions, appraisals feedback, witness statements and reflective accounts form an end point assessment which must be undertaken to achieve the L3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technician’s qualification. The course places emphasis on professionalism, reflective practice and person centered care therefore it is important that students can communicate effectively with colleagues, patients and work effectively as part of the ward based multidisciplinary team, to ensure that patients achieve the maximum benefit from their medicines. Reflective practice is an important part of the students continuing professional development (CPD) and they are expected to continually reflect upon their practice.
