We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and forward-thinking community team, as Team Leader in North-West locality. You will work as an integral part of our management team with dedicated time of 1 day a week to line manage approx. 10 staff. You will also have 2 days clinical work within NW locality.
This is an opportunity to develop your clinical and leadership skills contributing to developing a Balanced System in Birmingham in order to improve and advocate for services to children with SLCN in our large multicultural city.

- You will provide Speech and Language Therapy at a highly specialist level, functioning in partnership with other agencies and disciplines to support in the holistic assessment, diagnosis and intervention for children and young people known to the service.
- You will be responsible for the day-to-day management and support of a team of SLT staff comprising of bands 4 to 7
- You will develop strong and effective working relationships with colleagues using highly developed interpersonal skills
- You will apply BCHC Trust policies regarding staff management with fairness and compassion.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
See JD for detail, key duties include:
- Supporting the Professional Leads and Service Clinical Manager in the development and implementation of an appropriate training programme for members of the team across the locality, using information from appraisals and personal development plans
- Taking a role in the local implementation and monitoring of clinical supervision/ practice support systems in line with relevant policies and procedures.
- Assisting the Service Clinical Manager and Professional Leads in the recruitment, selection, and induction of staff, as required.
- Managing staff performance/disciplinary matters within the designated team, with support from the Service Operational Manager.

In accordance with UK Home Office requirements, Band 2 clinical and non-clinical roles and Band 3 Non-Clinical roles are not eligible for sponsorship.
Please note that the majority of non-clinical roles (Agenda for Change Band 3 - 6) with the exception of those which appear on this list - link, will not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK.
All non-clinical roles (Agenda for Change Bands 7 - 9) that meet the prescribed skill level (RQF 6) and salary threshold will be eligible for sponsorship.

Essential criteria
- • First degree level qualification, relevant to service area
- • HCPC Licence to practice
- • Full Membership of Professional body , relevant to service area
- • Evidence of recent relevant CPD activities in specialist area
- • Relevant training in specialist area e.g. post graduate dysphagia qualification, Sensory-Integration, neurological rehabilitation
- • Relevant training in clinical leadership
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Extensive experience of working as a specialist therapist with children and families in a range of multi-disciplinary and / or multi-agency teams in Local Authority and Health settings
- • Extensive experience of managing a mixed and complex caseload of children and young people with a range of developmental disorders and delays
- • Significant experience of managing safeguarding concerns and an understanding of local processes
- • Relevant experience of using leadership skills for service development
- • Significant experience in providing support and supervision to colleagues and other professionals
