There are exciting times ahead for Neurodevelopmental Services in West Wales and following additional Welsh Government funding, we would like to appoint two enthusiastic and motivated band 4 Neuro-Divergence Support Workers to join our friendly and inclusive West Wales Integrated Autism Service.
We are looking for motivated and dynamic individuals, who can work under pressure and are interested in providing high quality, collaborative care and support to autistic individuals with or without mild mental health and/or learning difficulties. You should have a genuine interest in the field of neuro-divergence and a passion for improving the lives of neuro-divergent adults and possess a range of transferrable skills, including a desire for developing your skills and knowledge around autism and neuro-divergence.
You will be able to work under pressure to provide high quality, collaborative care, and support to autistic individuals.

Neurodivergence Support Workers work under the direction and support of registered clinicians within the service, working on a one-to-one basis and/or in groups, both virtually and face to face.
The role will involve ensuring a high standard of neuro-affirming, person-centred, specialist support for service users, families, and carers.
You will be required to contribute to the assessment of service users who present with issues that impact on daily functioning, undertaking detailed outcome-focussed assessments, under the supervision of a registrant.
The role will involve collaborative working with other team members and across agencies and sectors to support the effective implementation of care and support plans.
The role requires you to work autonomously in a variety of work contexts, including work in the community, in individual’s own homes and out in the community.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
47 general practices (6 of which are managed practices), 45 dental practices (including 4 orthodontic), 96 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
West Wales integrated Autism service caters for the Hywel Dda University Health Board region, offering diagnostic assessment of autism in adults who do not meet eligibility criteria for statutory services such as mental health and learning disabilities. The service also offers time-limited support, professional consultation and engagement with every sector, in addition to delivering training around autism.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- NVQ level 3 or similar level of training in relevant field Or Advance certificate in Autism and/or ADHD; Positive Behaviour Support; (or equivalent level of demonstrable knowledge). Or Have extensive experience in working with neuro-divergent children, young people or adults, or experience of working with adults with mental health difficulties/ substance misuse/learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge.
- Experience of assessing and applying evidence based support interventions
- Able to communicate effectively using written and verbal skills with service users, carers, colleagues and other professionals.
- Able to organise work effectively. A progressive/forward thinking attitude to change and service demands.
- Competency in IT skills.
- Knowledge of a range of IT software packages.
- Committed to own personal professional development, attendance at training events and sharing good practice, knowledge and skills with colleagues.
- An understanding of confidentiality
