The ideal applicant requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work well under pressure, autonomously, and as part of a team. Self-motivation and flexibility to the needs of the service are imperative. There will also be a requirement to work across outreach sites, and there will be an expectation to travel to these locations.
This role involves a combination of study at university alongside practical work experience within our department. The successful candidate will work closely with a named mentor, initially observing clinical practice, and then moving on to develop their own clinical skills under both direct and indirect supervision. The main duties of the role include hearing assessment of adult and paediatric patients, diagnosis and rehabilitation of a range of hearing disorders. It also includes hearing aid fittings, real ear measurements, hearing aid follow-ups, counselling and rehabilitation, hearing aid trouble-shooting, hearing aid repairs, and undertaking audiological assessment at the request of ENT consultant colleagues. The successful candidate will be required to work autonomously at times, but also as part of a large team.
