We are looking for a self-motivated Pharmacy Technician with a high attention to detail to join our Primary Care Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy and Domiciliary Care team. You will need to be passionate about patient care, have excellent interpersonal skills, great organisational skills, and the drive to push the boundaries of the profession.
As part of the Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy work, you will support the development and implementation of the health board workplan by analysing prescribing data, developing standard operating procedures, and working closely with stakeholders. In the domiciliary care service, you will assist in the day to day running of the medicines management services which includes training carers, community pharmacies and other healthcare professionals to supply medicines to support patients to live independently.

Main responsibilities include:
• You will work as part of the Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Team supporting the implementation of the health board work plan in GP practices, liaising with practice staff, community pharmacies and other health care professionals to ensure this is done seamlessly.
• You will assist in the delivery of pharmaceutical education relating to medicines management for pre-registration pharmacy technicians, trainee pharmacists, other healthcare professionals and non-registered staff.
• You will deliver training and competency programmes in medicines administration to care workers and stakeholders.
• You will provide support to care providers in medicines management including domiciliary home visits and level of support assessments.
• You will need to have excellent communication skills and be confident in interacting with a diverse range of people and staff groups in a variety of settings.
• You will need to be self-driven and able to work autonomously to complete tasks within the desired time frame

Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
47 general practices (6 of which are managed practices), 45 dental practices (including 4 orthodontic), 96 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Essential criteria
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical technical procedures acquired through training Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice or NVQ 3 and BTEC or equivalent in pharmaceutical science
- Registered Pharmaceutical Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Working knowledge of current medicines.
