One full time (8PA) locum Consultant Orthodontic post is available.
Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust are seeking applications for a locum Consultant in Orthodontics to join the Team. The successful applicant should have the ability and commitment to promote best practice in patient management in conjunction with delivering local and national targets. Your experience and enthusiasm will be supported by a skilled team of clinical staff along with a full complement of dedicated and trained dental nurses.

The successful candidate will join a team of senior medical and nursing staff committed to providing a high quality surgical service to the people of Tameside and Glossop. The common aim will be to develop the department in all aspects of clinical service, teaching and research. Close teamwork is an essential requirement.
Attend the Departmental Meetings and governance meetings
Ensure, wherever possible, clinical practice is standardised and evidence based.
Be responsible for developing protocols for the management, referral and admission of patients in agreement with other clinical departments and where appropriate, in line with Trust policy
Provide management of out-patients
Together with fellow consultant colleagues, the clinical supervision of all staff working in the department in addition to the organisation and delegation of clinical work within the department.
Ensure the Trust’s policy is implemented in the event of a major incident.
Manage clinical and non-clinical complaints in accordance with Trust policies with particular emphasis on timeliness and local resolution.
Adhere to Trust Policy with regards Waiting List Management
Understand and be responsive to activity targets under Payment by Results (PbR) regime and to deliver income and activity targets as agreed.
To work with the Department’s management team to develop the service and to secure service efficiency and effectiveness.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
SECTION 1- MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Undertake specific management functions, as agreed with the Lead Consultant, in the running of the Department.
Attend the Departmental Meetings and governance meetings · Ensure, wherever possible, clinical practice is standardised and evidence based.

JOB PLAN
A 8 PA locum job plan will be available in accordance with Schedule 3 of the terms and conditions for Consultants. All elements may be subject to change. A formal job plan will be negotiated in three months. The Trust is aiming to ensure, over time, all standard full time Consultants’ job plans contain ten programmed activities.
In the interim new post holders may be offered additional programmed activities to reflect the current departmental working arrangements/service needs. The details of these will be discussed with the successful applicant.
