Are you interested in providing evidence based treatment to common mental health problems? Are you looking for a new challenging year and to undertake some Post Graduate Training?
The opportunity has arisen for us to recruit three enthusiastic and committed Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (Trainee PWPs) to join our expanding York and Selby NHS Talking Therapies Service (previously known as IAPT prior to the national rebranding).
Advert
The service is an integrated Step 2, Step 3 and counselling service covering York, Selby, Pocklington, Easingwold and Tadcaster geographical areas. We also have a dedicated Employment Advisory Team to support service users whilst within treatment.
In this role, you will provide Low Intensity interventions whilst undertaking the PG Certificate in Low Intensity Interventions delivered by Sheffield University which commences in October 2024. This training post will equip you to provide Step 2 Guided Self Help Low Intensity Interventions to clients with a range of common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression in primary care, for which CBT interventions are demonstrated to be clinically effective.
We pride ourselves on being an innovative Talking Therapy service, and as part of this have developed opportunities for our staff to take on the role of champions for a variety of populations such as perinatal, older adults, veterans and long-term conditions. These roles enable clinicians to develop their skills and experience in their areas of interest and assist in designing pathways of care for these populations. We are committed to facilitating continuing professional development and this is actively encouraged within our service.

Upon completion of the course, there is potential to being promoted to a qualified Psychological Wellbeing position on a permanent contract (subject to successful completion of the course, a vacant post being available and any relevant factors at the time).
Both trainee and qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners play a critical role in helping shape the future direction of the service by delivering high quality evidence based interventions. The role is a deliberately varied one which has a balance between undertaking initial assessments and holding a clinical caseload. All PWP’s are involved in delivering Guided Self Help, Psycho-education Courses and Computerised programmes. You will receive regular caseload supervision and trainee specific clinical skills supervision groups.

This does not prevent applicants seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.
