Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in south London and as well as specialist care for patients from further afield including cancer, renal, orthopaedic, respiratory and cardiovascular services.
Guy’s is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Our merger provides a once in a generation opportunity to build a lasting, world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research.

Job overview
An exciting key leadership opportunity has arisen within the finance team at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. The role reports to the Director of Strategic Finance and holds full responsibility for developing and Medium Term Capital and Revenue Plans.
The role will be responsible for coordination and delivery of capital finance from concept to delivery.
Along with staff and advisors the role will ensure business cases are presented which enable the Trust to gain Department of Health and Social Care, and NHS England support to implement significant proposals.
This is a high profile post integral to the success of the organisation. The post-holder is expected to work at a high level in the organisation demonstrating credibility with the Trust Directors, Senior Management Teams and Clinicians, and at a senior level with external bodies e.g., ICBs and NHS England.

This is an exciting time to be joining Guy's and St Thomas' NHS FT as we have recently jointly (with Kings College Hospital) implemented a single electronic health record system across the Trust, the largest such implementation seen in the NHS.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This is a senior finance position that is responsible for providing specialist advice across the whole of the organisation to the Director of Strategic Finance, Chief Finance Officer and other Executive and Board colleagues.
This post in the Finance function is to support Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in setting out the long-term financial plan (capital and revenue) for the medium term in support of the overall Trust Strategy and other supporting Strategies.
It is responsible for providing specialist advice and to confirm capital requirements of schemes and to identify and put in place funding sources to enable these schemes to be implemented.
Along with staff and advisors the role will ensure business cases are presented which enable the Trust to gain Department of Health and Social Care, and NHS England support to implement the proposals.
The role will be part of the negotiating team with potential development partners, funders and construction companies to translate the plans into funded projects with appropriate legal documentation in place.
