Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) was formed on 1 April 2017 following the merger of North Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (NEP) and South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SEPT).
Since then, EPUT has grown from strength to strength, providing many community health, mental health and learning disability services to support more than 3.2 million people living across Luton and Bedfordshire, Essex and Suffolk.

Job overview
· To co-ordinate moving and handling training throughout the Trust. To provide advice on manual handling to all other levels of management. To provide training and information on manual handling and back care to all grades of staff. To advise on Manual Handling Risk Assessments.
· The post holder will play a key role in enabling the efficient and effective day to day operation of the Mandatory Training Team They will work to implement Trust policy into local working practices to ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and good practice guidelines at all times.

Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.
All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will provide assurance that all training conducted is in line with CSTF and across the wider trust is delivered to a consistent standard of quality, through a programme of regular review and audit. In particular, they will develop and maintain accreditation requirements

Training and Staff Development
- To provide training (theory and practical) to Trust staff and external agencies as required
· To carry out key worker training and provide update training for link workers
· To assist colleagues in developing training and to share knowledge and skills.
· Design, develop and deliver new programmes as required
· To train identified staff to be able to observe, evaluate competencies to a set criteria within the area of manual handling.
· To train identified staff to undertake risk assessments and advise on safe systems of work within the practice environment prior to the risk being escalated.
· To ensure training programmes are designed to meet effective learning strategies
· To ensure assessment methods employed will provide formative and summative feedback
· To make full use of blended learning methods to ensure that efficient and effective training is implemented
· To evaluate teaching programmes, delivery methods and teaching strategies according to the Trust education standards
Health and Safety
- To monitor the processes of Mandatory Training and moving and handling throughout the Trust to ensure safety, so far as is reasonably practicable, and to advise the Mandatory Training Manager of any changes required
- To monitor and review accident / incident reports regarding manual handling and, where appropriate, liaise with the Risk Department
· To carry out risk assessments and advise on accident investigations on ergonomics and manual handling issues and advise on risk reduction controls when requested by the Integrated Risk Department or from clinical practice teams including allied health professionals
· To raise the profile of manual handling within the organisation in order to promote a safety culture
Analytical and Judgemental Skills
· To carry out audits as required
· To analyse the Mandatory Training risk register and advise on identification of any corporate level risks through notification of line manager and the Risk Department
· To review manual handling incidents as requested by the Risk Department
· To analyse training data as requested
· To advise on the design and layout of new builds in relation to manual handling/ health and safety needs
Policy
- To monitor and review the manual handling training appropriate for Service areas and to provide advice to the Mandatory Training Manager in order to inform policy.
Financial and Resource Management
- To advise the Trust in relation to the purchasing of specialist equipment
- To maintain an information resource on Mandatory Training and manual handling specialist equipment for use by all Trust staff
- To ensure cover is provided during periods of leave
Information Management
· To maintain the manual handling risk register and update this as required.
· To maintain accurate training records
Physical Effort
· Visit staff in their practice areas to provide on-site support and guidance as required
· Deliver training programmes requiring physical effort
