Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Mental Health Nurse to join the Community Adult Eating Disorder team in Buckinghamshire. This is an exciting time for our team due to the development of a new service model.
The post is based at Sue Nicholls Centre (Aylesbury), which is a specialist adult eating disorders service with a reputation for excellence. Our service provides a stepped-care model tailored to the needs of adults with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder as well as those with co-morbid mental health problems and their carers. We offer a range of evidence-based treatments for eating disorders and deliver these within the community and inpatient services. There are opportunities for further training in the evidence-based treatments and the service has incorporated the FREED initiative.
The community team is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team including: Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatrist, Nursing staff, Social Worker, Assistant Psychologists, Dietitian, Community Support Workers and team Administrators. Due to the service development and NHS England investment, there are a number of posts available, and we are also recruiting other professional groups. The service has good links with colleagues in the Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Services and also the Adult Community Eating Disorders service in Oxfordshire.

The service offers excellent opportunities for supervision, service development, service evaluation and research, teaching and training. We have good supervision and operational structures and an excellent track record of CPD. The service is also committed to evidence-based and evidence generating practice and you will have the opportunity to be part of service development.
The main component of the role will be in providing high quality specialist nursing care to patients who are referred to the eating disorder service. There will be opportunities to develop skills by working with other colleagues as appropriate. The post holder will be required to offer supervision to other team members and act as Practice Assessor to nursing students and trainees. Support to develop these skills will be offered and the local training course offers support to supervisors through a programme of CPD. Specific support and supervision is provided by other team members including family therapy, nursing and social work colleagues.
The post holder will be ambitious and have a positive attitude and outstanding clinical skills. The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills which will enable them to thrive within a multi-disciplinary team context and in working with this complex patient group and their families. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Is a qualified RMN
- Current and up to date registration with relevant professional body.
- Teaching/mentoring qualification
- Evidence of continuing professional development at masters or equivalent level.
Desirable criteria
- Professional knowledge acquired at masters or equivalent level.
- Leadership training
- Specialist skills and experience in two therapeutic modalities (e.g. CBT-E, MANTRA, SSCM)
Knowledge & Experience

- 3-5 years experience at Band 6 equivalent.
- Experience of mentoring and clinical supervision of others

- Substantial risk assessment and management skills, particularly in relation to Safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults
