Bronglais General Hospital is a busy district general hospital. The department provides a range of medical and surgical specialities.
You will be joining a team of experienced pharmacists and technicians and will be supported within a nurturing working environment to develop you career and undertake the prescribing qualification. Prescribers currently practice in Frailty, Cardiology and Infection Control. You will be part of the planned digital transformation of medicines management systems and will be actively encouraged to engage with these processes.
You will be expected to undertake the role of responsible pharmacist and will be expected to undertake Emergency Duty Commitment (on-call), work weekends and Bank holidays as part of a rota.

You will undertake a rotational clinical pharmacist role working closely with pharmacy colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team.
You will have the opportunity to develop your practice in a wide range of clinical areas in a small and friendly acute trust.
You will be supported in ongoing studies though the clinical diploma and subsequent prescribing qualifications.
You will be expected to undertake the role of responsible pharmacist when working in outpatient areas.
The post includes formal development opportunities from either the structured HEIW Post-registration Foundation Training Programme or a distance learning clinical diploma. Both these qualifications provide the foundation for excellent career development and a platform for professional and personal development. To meet the criteria for the HEIW foundation place you must be qualifying in July 2024 or January 2025 or have registered with the GPHC after July 2023.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Essential criteria
- Masters degree in pharmacy (4 years or equivalent)
- Member of General Pharmaceutical Council (registered pharmacist or pre-registration pharmacy trainee during applications, must be registered pharmacist at time of start date)
- English language qualification - GCSE grade C or above or IELTS score of 6.5 in writing and 6.0 in all other components.
- Professional knowledge of medicines managements systems and process in an integrated NHS.
