Job overview
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated individual to manage our busy Admin Team as a Lead Team Secretary within the Upper GI department at North Tyneside General Hospital.
You should be suitably qualified and experienced in secretarial work, as well as having experience of managing and allocating workloads to administrative staff.

· Responsible to Administration Manager.
· Line management & delegation of duties to band 3/2 team members - support recruitment & selection, induction, absence management, appraisal & performance management.
· Monitor workload capacity & administration for designated specialty team.
· Provide comprehensive secretarial service to consultant(s) and their team.
- manage diaries, arrange/minute meetings, communication with GPs & patients.
· Advanced typing & transcription of clinical & non-clinical documents (OCR 3 or equivalent qualification/experience)
· Support effective utilisation of OP clinic capacity.
· Support management of all patient journeys including target administration e.g. GP referrals, 18 week RTT, Cancer 2ww, Typed communication to GPs.
· Identify training & development needs of B3/2 team members.
· Resource management – ordering of supplies & equipment.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To act as Lead Secretary to the Upper GI team which consists of secretaries, clerical officers and transcriptionists.
Plan, allocate and supervise the work of a team.
Provide comprehensive secretarial service to consultant(s) and their team.
To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
