Join us in creating a sustainable future. We are seeking a highly motivated Sustainability Manager to join the Sustainability Team at NTW Solutions Limited. You will have plenty of opportunity to make a big difference to people's lives and be part of a dynamic team both within CNTW group and with our partners across the region in delivering our Green Plan and pursuing our goal of being Net Zero Carbon by 2040.
As a suitably experienced and qualified professional, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary Estates team across a diverse range of healthcare premises covering Cumbria, Northumberland and Tyne and Wear. The position will be predominately based at St Nicholas Hospital, Gosforth. Working as part of a dedicated team and with engaged colleagues throughout the company and Trust, the post holder will play a central role in the delivery and evolution of our Green Plan. The role will encompass leading and supporting on activities across the themes of waste, travel, energy, biodiversity, adaptation, procurement and supply chain, and sustainable models of care.

Key aspects of the job include:
- To provide expert specialist and professional advice to identify and deliver improvements in the Trust’s energy and environmental performance.
- Design, plan and deliver sustainable quality improvement programmes in collaboration with other operational teams.
- Take a specialist professional lead on the application of technical specialist energy and sustainability principles and policies, and their relevance to practical situations across all CNTW Group premises.
- Initiating schemes / bids / business cases for obtaining local and central funding
- Build new relationships with key partner organisations to align strategy and projects in relation to sustainability across the CNTW Group.
- To produce timely, informative reporting on key sustainability metrics in conjunction with the corporate teams responsible for statutory reporting, for internal trust use, Board use, staff communications and external partners.
- To embed Sustainability considerations into Trust Policy development.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing, promoting and the development of sustainability projects within a large organisation and of building strong and effective relationships with diverse stakeholders. A self-starter with a high level of self-motivation, they will demonstrate excellent leadership skills in being able to pull people together across the organisation and motivate them to deliver common aims and targets.

Please note that all jobs will be appointed on the NTW Solutions Limited terms and conditions (not NHS/A4C terms).
If you currently work for NTW Solutions on AfC terms and and conditions, you will be given the choice to retain these or move onto NTW Solutions terms and conditions. Please note that the above advertised salary will not apply if you choose to remain on AfC. Anyone currently paying into the NHS Pension scheme will be able to retain this.
All jobs will be appointed on the NTW Solutions Limited terms and conditions and not NHS Agenda for Change terms and conditions. New starters who are not in the NHS Pension already will be enrolled into a NEST pension.
Recruitment into NTW Solutions Limited will follow the principals of NHS Employer Check Standards and any relevant employment legislation.

Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of NHS Energy and sustainability guidance (HTM 07-01,07-02,07-04,07-07) and UK energy and sustainability guidance.
- A proven ability to obtain and consistently achieve results and targets. Proven ability to deal with wide range of data and information and take appropriate decisions from it.
- Good organisational and negotiation skill and ability to work unsupervised, self-directed and to set & attain goals
- Development of medium and long term strategic plans, with an understanding of the interdependencies and impact across the organisation
- Excellent presentation & communication skills – ability to engage with all levels of staff and contribute at meetings
- Expert user of MS Office applications, including word, excel, PowerPoint
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including verbal and written presentation skills
- Ability to analyse information and formulate concise reports.
- Ability to quickly grasp new ideas and concepts.
- You will need to be able to meet the mobility requirements of the job
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive practical experience in managing, promoting and the development of sustainability projects within a large organisation
- Experience of building strong and effective relationships with diverse stakeholders across CNTW Group
- Strong track record in successful project management
- Experience in developing policy documents
- Experience of carrying out environmental and energy audits and surveys
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- An appropriate Degree or equivalent in a related discipline plus specialist knowledge or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through courses and experience to degree level or equivalent
- Specialist Energy and Sustainability training or experience
