Chesterfield Royal Hospital is a busy and exciting acute Hospital which provides a full range of acute adult services, together with 24 hour accident and emergency care, specialist children’s services and a new state of the art cancer care centre. Uniquely Chesterfield Royal has a primary care division where we provide GP services to more than 30,000 patients in 5 locations across Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire.

To work within a multidisciplinary team who provide a comprehensive MRI Scanning Service to the Trust
The MRI team
Contributes to the delivery of outstanding patient care by:
• Providing a safe and efficient service for patients.
• Acting in professional manner, showing compassion and empathy to patients.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Facilitate achievement of waiting time targets and emergency scans.
• Responsible use of resources.
• Produce and oversee delivery of high-quality imaging.

Clinical
• Responsible for the professional organisation and management required to provide a high-quality MRI scanning service.
• To provide a consistent high standard of scanning and to supervise other staff within the team to achieve the same to aid the clinicians in achieving an accurate diagnosis.
• To always provide a consistent high standard of care and attention to patients thus maintaining the quality standards of the Trust.
• To liaise and communicate with other members of the multidisciplinary team both within and outside the Directorate.
• To keep abreast of current imaging developments and to bring to the attention of the Directorate.

• To monitor and maintain adequate stock levels ensuring value for money and maximum effectiveness within the resources available.

• Assist the Directorate Management Team in routine personnel matters i.e. annual leave, sickness/absence reporting, staff rotas and the recruitment and selection process.
• Attend and participate in the Directorate Management Team meetings and operate the Directorate Team
Briefing System.
• Ensure that effective communication channels are maintained within the department, the Trust, and local networks.
• Assist the Directorate Manager in the equipment procurement process and the completion of any relevant capital schemes.
• To support the Directorate Manager in managing the budget and in ensuring that appropriate action is taken to meet budgetary targets.
• Act as System Manager with responsibility for data held within patient files on the MRI System.
• Deputise for Clinical Manager as required.
Educational
• To encourage and participate in the training and development of all staff within the team.
• To take responsibility for personal development actively participating in the Staff Development Review
Process and maintaining a personal profile.
• To participate in the training and assessment of Student Radiographers from the Sheffield Hallam University.
Research/Audit
• To demonstrate a commitment to developing own audit skills and participate in Audit Meetings.
• To encourage and support research and audit within the Directorate.
Health and Safety
• Be aware of the implications of current legislation and have a thorough understanding of the Trust’s
Policies and Procedures.
• To ensure the promotion of the safety of patients, staff, and visitors to the Trust.
• As Infection Control lead for MRI, to maintain a working environment conducive to good patient care by ensuring adherence to local infection control policies and standards, taking appropriate corrective action, and liaising with infection control/ domestic services where necessary.
• As decontamination lead for MRI, to maintain awareness of current policies regarding the cleaning of equipment, surfaces etc., the products available within the trust and appropriate dilutions, and to ensure that other staff within area of responsibility know how to find this information.
• To participate in and promote the Clinical Governance and Leadership agenda at Directorate and Trust level.
General Responsibilities
· To maintain confidentiality of information pertaining to patients, staff and other health service business in accordance with the Caldicott guidelines, Data Protection Act and all other relevant legislation and local policy.
· To actively participate in the staff appraisal process.
· To be familiar with relevant Operational, Personnel, Health and Safety Policies and procedures, including Fire, COSHH, No Smoking and Alcohol.
· To organise and control workflow in the department to provide an efficient service.
· To always provide a consistent and high standard of care to patients thus maintaining the quality standards of the Trust.
· To liaise and communicate with other members of the multi-disciplinary team both within and outside the Division.
· To assist in the organisation of and to participate in the Directorate's Quality Assurance Programme.
· To encourage and participate in the training and development of all staff within the Division.
· To ensure the promotion of the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
· Establish and maintain good working relationships with other members of staff and Departments in the interests of patient care.
· To actively participate in the staff appraisal and development process.
· Maintain an MRI safe environment by adhering to local and national guidance.
· Be familiar with all relevant hospital and departmental Operational, Personnel, Health & Safety policies, and procedures.
· To share expertise with other disciplines and to act in an advisory capacity to other staff within the Trust.
· To operate within MRI service to help facilitate a 7-day scanning service within the MRI department and the CDC MRI mobile unit.
· Undertake training and perform the administration of I.V. contrast agents in accordance with the Directorate and Trust Policies and Procedures commensurate with the grade of this post.
