Job overview
To train as an Education Mental Health Practitioner as part of the national accredited course for Mental Health Support Team Staff. Academic training will take place at Edge Hill University with a clinical placement at Salford MHST. The successful post holder will work under close supervision to complete training to deliver low intensity CBT informed therapies to children, young people and families across education settings in Salford.

Attendance at Edge Hill University 2 days per week to complete academic study including, video recording of clinical sessions, case studies, audit of school whole school approaches, reflective practice, safeguarding, CBT theory, risk assessment and use of clinical supervision.
Attendance at clinical placement 3 days per week, working as part of the Salford MHST, delivering group work, training, consultation, assessments and low intensity therapy within a supportive team and clinical supervision.

Essential criteria
- Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills.
- Experience of engaging children, young people and families.
- Ability to work as a member of a multi disciplinary team and contribute to the teams development
- Ability to complete academic tasks within specified timeframe
- Proven ability to manage independent study and complete academic work
- To be able to actively engage in individual and group supervision, reflecting on personal and professional issues
Desirable criteria
- Experience of delivering training and /or group work
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of child and adolescent mental health.
- Appreciation of the current issues, dynamics and risks impacting children and young people’s mental health.
- Knowledge of providing evidenced based assessment and interventions for children and young people with mental health problems and their families.
- Experience of working within education systems and understanding of their processes, procedures and policies
- Knowledge and experience of working within a Safeguarding Children and Families framework.
- Knowledge of Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies and Mental Health Support Teams.
- Experience of working in a community based service/setting.
- Experience of liaison and working with a range of other relevant agencies to meet the needs of children and young people.
