Job overview
We are looking for a vibrant and enthusiastic individual to join a brand new team and complement our new sub-acute medical ward.
Ward 18 is a newly established sub-acute medical ward situated in North Tyneside general hospital within the Medicine and Emergency Care Business Unit.
The Unit consists of 28 in-patient beds. It will provide evidence based multi-disciplinary care with immediate and specialist management for the acute medical patient. This includes rapid diagnostic facilities, treatment and a multi-disciplinary approach including provision of comprehensive medical assessment.

Experience in Acute medicine is desirable but not necessary as full training and support will be given to the successful candidate. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the ward team under the direction of the Ward Manager.
- To be responsible for the organising and co-ordination of nursing services in the ward/department in the absence of senior staff on a regular basis.
- To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
- To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
