Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Family & Systemic Psychotherapist (Band 8b) with generic & specialist CAMHS experience to work within a multi-disciplinary team in Harrow CAMHS.
This is a part-time (4 days /8 sessions) permanent post and is part of a well-established systemic discipline within the trust, where professional development and innovative work is actively encouraged.
Harrow CAMHS is a very warm & friendly team which welcomes new skills and new ideas. It is part of Central & North West London (CNWL) Foundation Mental Health Trust. We are committed to collaborative multi-disciplinary work and there are very good links with partnership agencies in the borough.
The post will be supervised by the Consultant Family & Systemic Psychotherapist in Westminster CAMHS and line managed by the Harrow CAMHS Team Manager.
Harrow is a culturally diverse borough and we are keen to provide culturally appropriate services to families. We are looking for an enthusiastic systemic therapist who has good CAMHS experience and is able to integrate quickly into a busy CAMHS team.

The role of the Principal Family and Systemic Psychotherapist is to be the professional lead for the profession of systemic family psychotherapy and provide an active clinical role to compliment the range of psychological/therapeutic services within the multi-disciplinary service known as Harrow CAMHS. The services are intended to meet the complex mental health needs of young people up to the age of 18.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To provide effective leadership to the systemic and family psychotherapists within the service and take responsibility for efficient, responsive systemic psychotherapy assessment and treatment services in co-ordination with other members of the multi-disciplinary team
- To provide highly specialist systemic assessment of children and families presenting with significant and highly complex mental health and relationship issues, using appropriate interpretations and integration of complex information from a variety of other professionals
- To practice in a way which is inclusive and considerate of the needs of each individual in the family with their differing developmental stages and current emotional state. This will include considering highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the child and their difficulties.
- To evaluate and make decision about treatment options considering both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and development processes which has shaped the child and family.
- To work in ways which are sensitive to the highly complex needs of families from a wide range of racial, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. This includes an ability to understand and offer therapeutic interventions to a variety of family formations including single parent families, heterosexual married parents, blended families, same sex couples, accommodated and looked after children and their network of care, children who are on the child protection register and parents who have mental health problems.
- To be responsible for implementing a broad range of systemic family therapy interventions for children, adolescents and their families who are presenting with complexities in family relationships and mental health problems.
- To draw upon different explanatory models to maintain a number of provisional hypothesis and to collaboratively agreed treatment plans with the client system and colleagues.
- To undertake risk assessment and risk management appropriate of the mental health presentations of the individual patient, including protective and risk factors presenting in the network of significant relationship.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Post-graduate family therapy training to MSc level or equivalent.
- UKCP registration as family therapist
- Post-qualification training in additional CAMHS related specialised areas
- Post-qualification training in teaching and supervision of child family therapy
Desirable criteria
- Recent Safeguarding children training
- Qualification in core mental health or social welfare profession (e.g. social work, mental health nursing, psychology, occupational therapy) and significant post qualification experience
- CYP IAPT training/Supervisor training
Experience

- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary CAMHS team
- Experience in supervising as Family Therapist
- Experience of managing and supervising others in a clinical and performance management context including appraisal
