Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in south London and as well as specialist care for patients from further afield including cancer, renal, orthopaedic, respiratory and cardiovascular services.
Guy’s is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. As part of our commitment to provide care closer to home, in 2017 we also opened a cancer centre and a kidney treatment centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. St Thomas’ has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Our merger provides a once in a generation opportunity to build a lasting, world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Evelina London Children’s Hospital as Assistant General Manager for Evelina London Children's Cardio-Respiratory and Intensive Care Services [CRIC].
Our Directorate consists of acute, elective and surgical services for children including Intensive Care, Cardiology, Cardiac surgery and Respiratory. We deliver care in our specialist children’s hospitals, Evelina London Children’s Hospital and Royal Brompton Children’s Hospital, in the community and in other hospitals across the South Thames Paediatric Network (STPN). Our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Evelina London Children’s Hospital offers an integrated specialty pediatric intensive care transport service, the South Thames Retrieval Service (STRS), which operates across the South Thames network including King’s College Hospital and St George’s Hospital.
This role is an exciting chance to work closely with the service managers and Directorate Management teams to support services in the delivery of their Business Plans relating to CRIC Services. This includes the integration of services between the Evelina London Children's Hospital site, and the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital sites, and the specialist care provided to patients throughout South East England. This is an exciting time to join the Evelina following the introduction of a new Electronic Health Record system rolled out across Guys and St Thomas’.

The post demands a proactive and creative approach in order to support the services across Evelina London and the Royal Brompton, to ensure the smooth running of both outpatients and inpatient scheduling teams, in a demanding and rewarding atmosphere.
The successful candidate will be adaptable, have excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, have excellent communication skills, good attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. The post holder will work closely with the clinical leads and teams across the children's Allied Health Professional teams, centralised Outpatient services and the in-house CRIC admission and surgical scheduling teams. The post holder must be IT literate and have the ability to navigate trust IT systems as well as monitor key metrics and data trends around emergency and elective activity.

The purpose of the Assistant GM post is to support the Deputy General Manager, General Manager, Clinical Director and Head of Nursing to ensure that both strategic and operational demands continue to be met. The Assistant General Manager role will be a full time post accountable to the General Manager and deputise for the General Manager as appropriate. The post holder will be fully responsible and accountable for the delivery of clinical services in their directorate.
