Are you a psychological therapist looking for a new challenge in a beautiful part of the country? We have an exciting new role for a Specialist Psychological Therapist (BABCP registered Cognitive Behavioural Psychologist) to join our Working Age Adult inpatient ward at Oaklands Centre in Chichester.
Oaklands Centre is a 16 bedded purpose built acute inpatient psychiatric unit which provides a service to working age adults with acute mental health problems
You will have the opportunity to work with people with a wide range of mental health problems, providing assessments and interventions to clients, their families and carers, as well as support to the team through case formulation and reflective practice.
We are looking for individuals with excellent clinical skills and an aptitude for engaging positively with colleagues and service users. Your role will involve psychological assessment, formulation and intervention with service users. You will also have skills in thinking creatively with local colleagues, using your psychological skills to inform service-users' care pathways and ongoing recovery journeys.

As a Specialist Psychological Practitioner, you will work closely with the MDT to ensure a trauma-informed, therapeutic culture is promoted and embedded with collaborative service user engagement. You will work closely with the 8b Principal Psychologist to provide leadership around the implementation of evidence-based interventions.
The role includes providing individual and group evidence-based interventions for people with severe and enduring mental health difficulties. Formulation skills will be an important part of the role as you lead on team formulation which is valued part of MDT working and care planning. There may also be opportunities to offer clinical supervision to trainee Mental Health Well-being practitioners within the wider service.

Knowledge/Experience

- Substantial post-qualification/accreditation experience of specialist psychological therapy (assessment, formulation and treatment), as specified in the same Appendix, maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
- A high level of competence in applying a psychological therapy to complex difficulties appropriate for this therapy with the client group, and a proven track record of delivering positive outcomes in this therapy
- Experience of offering teaching, training and supervision within a demanding organisational context
- A clear and theoretically informed approach to supervision
- Experience of representing psychological therapy within the context of multi-disciplinary care within a complex organisational context
- Significant experience of working with the particular client group served by the team/service
- Knowledge of guidance and legislation in relation to the client group
- A high-level specialist knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapy as specified in the same appendix, as applied to the client group using this service
- Experience of the application of psychological therapy in different cultural contexts and experience of working within a multicultural framework.
- Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the professional registration/accrediting body specified in the same appendix
