Job overview
Redbridge Integrated Care Directorate invites applications for the post of Band 7 Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist within the Mental Health and Wellness Team South.
Occupational Therapists work as an integral part of the MHWT, providing specialist bio-psycho-social interventions. This exciting opportunity requires strong leadership and motivational skills it will provide the right candidate with rewarding managerial, clinical and operational challenges.
Occupational Therapy has a key role to play within the team, taking the Lead on promoting a recovery focused culture and maintaining a strong network with other statutory and non statutory services to enable improved social inclusion outcomes for service users.
The post holder will care coordinate a small caseload of services users whilst supporting the team as one of the clinical leads.
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

The post holder will lead on the provision and delivery of OT interventions within the MHWT South. You will work as a senior member of the multidisciplinary clinical team responsible for the assessment and provision of specialist bio-psycho-social interventions of service users with serious mental illness.
The post holder will lead alongside other senior colleagues in the continuing development and delivery of a high quality service that is underpinned by evidence based practice and NICE & DH guidance, providing day to day professional and clinical leadership, evaluation and monitoring across the service
You will lead a team of OT's to provide specialist functional assessments. This will include assessments of daily living skills using the Model of Human Occupational Assessment tools to ascertain level of functional ability, related risk factors, level of support, and accommodation needs in order to implement community care plans, provide adaptive equipment and maintain a high standard of service user care.
The post holder will have the opportunity to lead and support in the facilitation and delivery of group programmes alongside other OT staff.
The successful post holder would also be expected to collaboratively work with the IPS employment workers to support service users with their employment goals.

High-Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436) pro rata for part time staff.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
NELFT fully promotes OT professional/personal training and development, monthly supervision, CPD, annual appraisal, audit, research and work based Quality improvement and innovation. There is the opportunity to support junior staff, OT students and apprentices. As part of the OT workforce, you will work in collaboration with the Borough Lead OT to contribute towards the development of the OT services in the community teams.
In alignment with the Community Mental Health Framework for Adults, our aims include a greater focus on prevention, wellbeing and delivering more integrated and personalised care closer to home. At the core of the framework is the idea that primary, secondary, specialists, and social care along with housing, voluntary sectors and commissioned providers work together in a unified way with people who use services at the centre of service provision and much more involved in their care. All team members will receive training in recovery and social inclusion, Open Dialogue and Trauma Informed approaches to care. In addition, groups of staff will also be invited to undertake further specialised training in an area of chosen expertise. We will support additional training and have a skills matrix to support existing and all new staff.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrates comprehensive clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs in this specialty.
- Significant experience of working in an acute hospital/community mental health setting at band 6 or above within the relevant clinical area
- Experience of team/service development
- Experience of supporting and supervision of junior therapists, student therapists and assistants.
- A specialist knowledge across a range of therapy practices, routine and non-routine, requiring expertise within the field of therapy.
