Job overview
The Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine (RLHIM) invites applications for a Specialty Doctor to work in the Insomnia and Behavioural Sleep Medicine Clinic. We welcome applications from medically qualified professionals with experience in Sleep Medicine, Psychiatry or Neurology. This post is open to job sharers, with or without a partner.
The post holder will work in the largest Insomnia treatment clinic in the United Kingdom and will take part in expanding the capacity of the clinic as well as expanding the range of disorders covered and treatments offered. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of a growing field of medicine.
The post holder’s main responsibilities will be to assess new patients, order appropriate investigations, interpret the results of those investigations and initiate treatment plans for the patients. They will see individual patients for longer term follow up and will also be expected to run psychological and behavioural treatment groups for insomnia and other sleep disorders.
On the job training for all of these tasks will be provided. They will also work closely with other sleep services within the trust as well as with other clinicians in the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine.

The RLHIM is a national and international centre for evidence-based practice, education and research in integrated medicine. Its philosophy of holism, individualisation and integration of treatment uses a multidisciplinary approach to assessment, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation using conventional skills together with complementary therapies.
The successful candidates will be expected to possess excellent interpersonal skills, good organizational abilities and a willingness to learn. A good knowledge of sleep medicine, psychopharmacology and cognitive behaviour therapy is desirable, but any gaps in knowledge can be addressed during on the job training.
Apart from high level clinical skills the successful applicant will have vision and the willingness to work in a multidisciplinary team and assist in the development of clinical services. Clinics include some evening and Saturday clinics.
