Job overview
The Clatterbridge Pharmacy Ltd are looking for a passionate and dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join us in caring for patients across Merseyside who are affected by Cancer.
You will be joining a diverse and professional team, who take pride in providing a high quality medicines service to the Trust, to ensure that patients receive the best care possible. You will be involved in many aspects of supplying specialist medicines.
You must hold a valid Pharmacy Technician qualification, and registration with GPhC.
We may also consider applications from those who are currently a Pre-Registration Technician and are near to completing a Level 3 qualification (within next 3-4 months).
We can also offer the opportunity to complete the Accredited Accuracy Checking qualification for the right candidate.
You will need great communication and organisational skills, along with the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. You will need to follow strict procedures and instructions carefully, and be flexible to adapt to changing situations, dealing with queries and issues promptly, escalating when necessary.
You will also need accurate record keeping and IT skills. The post will include working in the Dispensary, Outpatient and Procurement/Stock Distribution departments.
This post will be based in Liverpool, but will require travel to the Wirral site on a rotational basis.

- To support the Pharmacy Managers and Lead Pharmacy Technicians in the day to day running of the pharmacy.
- Dispense prescription medicines to patients, in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- To carry out accuracy checking of dispensed medicines where qualified to do so.
- To supervise pharmacy assistants, trainees and other pharmacy staff as identified.
- To act as a role model, mentor and trainer to other members of staff.
- Take part in the appropriate management of medicines stock.
- Undertake over the counter sales of pharmacy medicines under the supervision of the responsible pharmacist.
- Provide specialist counselling on medicines to patients at the outpatient counter as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate Controlled Drug records in accordance with procedures, and take responsibility for resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- To support the maintenance of the departmental Wholesaler Dealers Authorisation
- Process requests for stock and place orders with suppliers, including complex orders for outsourced aseptic products and specialist medicines used in the aseptic unit.
- Deal with any complex queries and supply issues appropriately, escalating where necessary
Participation in general pharmacy duties including 7 day shift working and bank holiday rotas, as per service need.
