The UCLH Cancer and Haematology Psychology and Psychotherapy Service (CHaPPS) is based within UCLH adult cancer services across inpatient and outpatient settings. This is an exciting Assistant Psychologist post that works across two existing teams of psychologists and psychotherapists working within UCLH specialist cancer services.
As a substantive post within the cancer psychology services this is a great opportunity to work alongside 11 qualified and experienced psychologists and psychotherapists and to contribute to administrative, audit, research and clinical support within specialist psychology adult cancer services. The postholder will facilitate the ongoing provision of existing specialist clinical services and help in the establishment and implementation of therapeutic and group interventions. The postholder will provide administrative support, audit and coordination of clinical services, have the opportunity to observe and co-facilitate the provision and evaluation of psychological input and specialist therapeutic groups and to work alongside senior and highly experienced clinical staff.

The service in which this post is based is part of a larger group of psychologists, psychotherapists and other multidisciplinary health care professionals within the UCLH cancer and clinical health services, with opportunities to connect and work with many experienced clinicians. Day-to-day coordination and regular clinical supervision will be provided by experienced clinical and counselling psychologists within CHaPPS and the postholder will be accountable to the Deputies and Clinical Leads of the Cancer and Haematology Psychology and Psychotherapy Service.
Psychology provision is an integral part of the world-class multidisciplinary cancer care and services at UCLH and these services are at the forefront of cancer and haematology care in the UK and internationally. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Candidates for this post must have completed a graduate degree in psychology accredited by the British Psychological Society with a first or 2:1 classification as a minimum.
We are looking for a graduate in psychology who has a passion for health psychology, is interested in pursuing further training in a clinical, counselling or applied psychology role in the future, has exceptional IT and database skills, and has previous audit and research experience. Previous experience in an assistant psychology or research psychology post is a requirement.
Interviews will be held in person in early August 2024 and shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a 10 minute presentation related to this role. Details of this presentation will be sent to candidates invited for interview.

Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- An upper second class or higher honours degree in Psychology
- Entitlement to graduate membership of British Psychological Society
- Good working knowledge of statistical packages (SPSS)
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and its applications (Word and Powerpoint)
- Good working knowledge of Excel and database tools
Desirable criteria
- Further post graduate experience in relevant areas of psychology, clinical health psychology and/or research design and analysis.
