Job overview
We are recruiting multiple doctors at CT1/CT2 level to work across General Medicine, Geriatric Medicine including Acute Frailty, and Respiratory Medicine. The posts are suitable for doctors who have completed Foundation or Core Medical Training. These posts are for an initial 12 months but can be adjusted to suit personal circumstances and extended on completion of successful appraisal.
These highly attractive and popular posts which were established in 2019 now include opportunities to develop your Medical Leadership, Medical Education and research skills, and take part in subspecialty projects. All these posts will include potential to attend subspecialty clinics, and clinical procedural skills and QI practitioner training. Non-clinical time will be built into your job plan for continuous professional development (CPD).
Advert
These posts have an assigned educational supervisor and a wide range of educational opportunities available which can be tailored to your needs. The education programme for junior doctors at our hospital is active and includes a highly successful PACES teaching programme with frequent scheduled teaching sessions for 6 weeks prior to each exam diet. These posts are identical in the clinical supervision, educational supervision and in-house educational programme opportunities given to our medical trainees. The wide breadth of services available at MFT allows experience of specialised clinics that might otherwise be difficult to attend.
The programme offers great flexibility in terms of out of hours commitment and supporting health and wellbeing, and work-life balance. We will consider applications for unpaid leave in addition to the usual annual leave entitlement. Out of hours working is essential but we have a variety of rotas which includes short weekend shifts and weekday evening shifts, with or without night shift.
Working for our organisation
MFT is England’s largest NHS Trust with a turnover of £2.5bn & is on a different scale than most other NHS Trusts. We’re creating an exceptional integrated health & social care system for the 1 million patients who rely on our services every year.
Bringing together 10 hospitals & community services from across Manchester, Trafford & beyond, we champion collaborative working & transformation, encouraging our 28,000 workforce to pursue their most ambitious goals. We set standards that other Trusts seek to emulate so you’ll benefit from a scale of opportunity that is nothing short of extraordinary.
We’ve also created a digitally enabled organisation to improve clinical quality, patient & staff experience, operational effectiveness & driving research and innovation through the introduction of Hive; our brand-new Electronic Patient Record system which we’ve launched in September 2022.
We’re proud to be a major academic Research Centre & Education provider, providing you with a robust infrastructure to encourage and facilitate high-quality research programmes. What’s more, we’re excited to be embarking on our new Green Plan which will set out how MFT continues to play its part in making healthcare more sustainable.
At MFT, we create and foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, provide equal opportunities for career development that are fair, open and transparent, protecting your health and wellbeing and shaping the future of our organisation together.
