About
We provide a full range of acute clinical services from Northampton General Hospital and Danetre Hospital in Daventry. We are a designated cancer centre and have recently invested in a number of additional specialist services, including in-patient renal services and interventional cardiology. All elective inpatients and emergency admissions are screened for MRSA. As part of our work to improve clinical outcomes we are taking part in a national patient safety programme and have invested in systems to capture patients views on the service we provide. We understand that sometimes a small change can make a big difference for patients.

We are looking for a Chief Nurse to join us at the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire. If you are a collaborative, compassionate, innovative and experienced Chief Nurse we hope this role will be of interest to you.
The UHN Group includes Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust with a combined turnover of circa £900M and 11,000 employees. Working together KGH and NGH serve the healthcare needs of a population of 2 million people. As a university teaching hospital, teaching and research are important, with a focus on developing strong wide ranging academic partnerships leading to improved patient outcomes and exciting opportunities for colleagues.
The UHN Chief Nurse is a new role required following creation of a single executive team at UHN. The role reports to the UHN Chief Executive Officer, is a voting Executive Director of both NGH and KGH Boards and is a pivotal role in the leadership of University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group (UHN).

Working as part of the Integrated Leadership Team (ILT), the Chief Nurse will provide expert advice to the Boards and colleagues on all clinical issues, and on nursing, midwifery and AHP professional matters. In partnership with the UHN Medical Director, the Chief Nurse will be responsible for providing strong and effective clinical leadership, improving and sustaining clinical practices and standards across all services and for all aspects of patient safety. The post holder will support professional development of nurses, midwives and AHPs at all levels, and will champion and embed a culture of quality improvement, effective clinical governance and great patient experience.
To be successful in the role you will need demonstrable experience of setting and delivering a long-term vision, whilst responding to short-term challenges and opportunities. You will be able to demonstrate a record of building, leading, motivating and developing multi-disciplinary teams and, through your leadership of strategic transformation programmes, the delivery of continuous service improvement, successful outcomes and significant operational and service changes. You will have experience of leading and supporting integration/collaboration across teams and organisations as well as working at system level to develop whole system approaches to improved care.
