Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Pharmacy Assistant for Distribution to support our Pharmacy Directorate.
In this critical role, you will oversee pharmacy distribution support duties, including restocking of medicines, stock control, the training of Omnicell systems, and the receipt and distribution of pharmaceuticals. Your contributions will ensure the safe, effective, and efficient management of medicines across our trust.

- Train users on Omnicell systems.
- Manage inventory, including receiving medicine deliveries and investigating stock discrepancies.
- Perform Omnicell restocks and cycle counts.
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of the distribution service.
Qualifications and Skills:
- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or currently working towards its completion.
- Proficiency with EPIC pharmacy systems.
- Supervisory skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
General Duties:
- Use computer programs including Microsoft Office, Windows, and Excel.
- Communicate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Solve problems and use initiative while understanding your own limitations.
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures, including data protection, health and safety, infection control, and equal opportunities.
Pharmaceutical Supply:
- Manage the supply of medicines against set stock levels, including picking, packing, and dispatching medicines, as well as replenishing stock in Omnicell cabinets.
Supervision and Training:
- Oversee and train pharmacy assistants, students, and work experience students, ensuring compliance with established procedures and SOPs.
Customer Service:
- Deliver urgent medicines to wards and provide exceptional service to both patients and healthcare professionals.
Stock Management:
- Conduct regular stock takes and cycle counts and handle the recycling and disposal of obsolete or expired medicines.
- Resolve stock discrepancies and out-of-stock issues, coordinating with pharmacy procurement and senior stores staff.
- Perform thorough checks of expiry dates at the point of issue, ensuring all pharmaceutical products are managed with meticulous attention to detail.
- Oversee the processing of restocks (BWPROF) on a daily basis and manage the return of unwanted medicines.
- Ensure good stock rotation practices are followed to minimize wastage and optimize inventory levels.
Omnicell System Management:
- Train staff on the best practices for using Omnicell cabinets, in accordance with SOPs.
- Regularly check stock medicines for suitability and reintegrate them into Omnicell cabinets to reduce wastage.
- Participate in the Omnicell Cycle Count rota, managing short-dated items and ensuring effective stock rotation.
- Customize Omnicell cabinet configurations based on Ward Pharmacist requests and address any necessary changes.
- Support the identification, investigation, and management of discrepancies in Omnicell systems.
- Address and resolve everyday issues related to Omnicell cabinets, including database and ward cabinet problems.
Customer Service:
- Deliver urgent medicines to wards on an ad hoc basis.
- Provide exceptional service to both patients and healthcare professionals.
