Under the wide-open east Anglian skies, we have an excellent opportunity for committed, dedicated, and enthusiastic practitioners to join our senior team within the Emergency & Obstetric Theatres.
Here at the NNUH Theatres Complex we have a broad specialty base, over 19 elective theatres, 3 procedure rooms, and 2 developing dedicated paediatric theatres including a developing Robot suite and Hand Unit. The successful post-holder will work across the four Emergency and Obstetrics theatres, whose dynamic and highly skilled team additionally support a multitude of outreach anaesthetic services.
These services are supported with a full time Practice Development and Education team with a stand-alone Governance team.
We are seeking a compassionate and competent practitioner, ideally with experience in both anaesthetic and surgical skills within the Emergency and Obstetric theatre setting. You will be motivated, a great team player and be confident in your abilities to manage and lead a cohesive team. Personal development is encouraged and supported with training opportunities, Mandatory training and Appraisals.
The Emergency Theatres at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital provide a highly caring and dynamic environment for patients requiring urgent and emergency intervention from a large range of surgical specialities including; General, Urology/Gynae, Vascular, Paediatrics, Plastics, Thoracics, Shared Airway, ENT, Maxillofacial, and Obstetrics.

As a Deputy Team Leader you will be required to lead and manage the Emergency and Obstetric theatres on a 24/7 basis, providing excellent supervision, organisation and co-ordination of the staff and theatres.
In addition to the Emergency Service, this opportunity will also require the post holder to support the provision of service for elective obstetric operating as well as emergency obstetric patients. With two dedicated obstetric theatres the demand for service is high and requires the post holder to have excellent communication skills alongside a flexible and dynamic approach to enable seamless and effective multidisciplinary team working.
The post-holder is responsible for supporting the Team Leader in providing leadership and effective management and co-ordination of patient activity, staffing and utilisation throughout the patient’s operative pathway, in order to promote a patient centred approach to high quality health care whilst upholding and influencing professional and Trust values.

Travelling to work
Staff parking is available onsite; however, this is limited during core working hours. We have more capacity in the evening and at weekends and can usually provide spaces during those hours.
We look to allocate these spaces fairly. Our Travel Office have a set of criteria that staff must meet in order to qualify. If you qualify for a space, you may be placed on a waiting list if we are at full capacity.
The NNUH is served by a number of public buses, and we offer generously discounted monthly passes with First Bus & Konect.
The Costessey Park and Ride runs regularly each day from 06:30 (from P&R) to 20:45 (from NNUH) and this service is free for NHS staff. There is a regular Thickthorn P&R service as well which is free. Applications to the Travel Office are required for this service. We also have a discounted service from the airport P&R if you purchase a bundle. Please see Konect website for further details.
The NNUH host multiple bicycle racks and a salary sacrifice scheme. We also benefit from a Beryl station onsite.
