Job overview
Opportunity has arisen for 1 full time and 1 part time Band 7 Clinical Lead to work within the Mental Health Acute Crisis Response Service to support the continued development of the service.
The successful candidates will fill in the role of ICAH Clinical Lead based in Goodmayes Hospital
The team is looking for a dynamic, proactive, enthusiastic and highly skilled professional who will form a key part of the leadership team within the service. The post holder will also play a lead role in ensuring that all matters related to the client assessment are seamless and of a high standard. This will entail working closely with all professionals and carers, including the police, London Ambulance Service, Bleep Holders (HBPoS), Switchboard, Emergency Duty Team, Liaison & Diversion ,and Street Triage.
Applicants will need to have a minimum of three years post-qualification clinical experience in mental health, where a degree of autonomous working is required. They should be able to demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative, have good time management skills and be able to prioritize workload effectively. Applicants will need to demonstrate well developed leadership and interpersonal skills especially when handling conflict and crisis, and should have the appropriate skills to demonstrate a good risk management.

- Providing clinical leadership in regards to the day-to-day running of the service i.e. triaging referrals and making effective decision.
- Participating and making sound clinical decisions pertaining to bed management, gate keeping and Accident & Emergency Diversion function
- Post Holder will hold responsibility in identifying and allocating beds to ensure patient flow is continuous and avoiding breaches.
- Providing leadership to junior staff carrying out assessment of service user’s suffering from any mental health crisis.
- Work closely with inpatient services, Crisis teams and community teams to whole systems working for all our client
- Working and acting as a key member of the multi-disciplinary teams, supporting each service user in the achievement of planned outcomes.
- To participate and take a lead role in the development of an effective team and the development of productive working relationships throughout the Trust.
Working for our organisation
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High-Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436) (pro rata for part time staff).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
1.Provide a range of intervention and assessment of patients, including those with multiple pathologies and complex mental health needs, taking into consideration assessment of the patient’s physical/cognitive/perceptual skills to identify the patient’s abilities and areas of difficulty.
2.To deputise when required in the absence of the Team/Service Lead and delegate appropriately to more junior members of staff, support workers.
3.To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.
4.Provide specialist clinical advice to other team members on the suitability of various assessments and intervention methods where appropriate.
5.To participate and take a lead role in the development of an effective team and the development of productive working relationships throughout the Trust.
6.To facilitate the development of a positive and ‘supportive’ team culture by taking responsibility for dealing effectively with potential conflict.
7.Have specialist knowledge in the field of adults mental health in order to carry out assessments and interventions which are underpinned by relevant theoretical approaches whilst ensuring regular evaluation of the care plan.
8.To oversee decisions made by the team in the day to running of the service and escalate any complex / high risk issues to the team manager.
