The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of acute clinical services for a catchment area of up over 1 million people. We provide specialist services in radiotherapy, neonatalogy, paediatrics, orthopaedics, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, rheumatology, medicine and surgery. Every year our 7,000 staff treat people from Norfolk, neighbouring counties and further afield. Our patients are referred to us by around 100 local GP surgeries and other acute hospitals and primary care Trusts around the country. We are involved in the teaching and training of a wide range of health professionals, in partnership with the University of East Anglia and other local education providers.

The Surgical Outpatient Department delivers a high standard of patient care, minor procedures and interventions. The specialties included are General Surgery, Colorectal, Breast, Vascular, Upper GI and Urology. We see patients in a clinic setting for an initial consultation, through/ahead of treatment and follow up appointments to review their condition.
The Breast services have one stop clinics where patients have on the day imaging and diagnosis working alongside the Breast Care Nurses and Breast Imaging department to provide a holistic service.
The Urology clinics include the One Stop Service for all new patients where investigations and minor procedures are carried out in the clinics and patients are given a diagnosis and plan of care on the day where required and are seen by the Uro-Oncology team.
In the vascular clinics we undertake simple to complex dressings and wound management, implementing plans of care with the vascular specialist team, podiatrist, and patient. Encouraging the patient to be involved in their own care pathway is upmost to the service we offer.
We also undertake various other interventions to include, Stent removal, Anoscopy for rectal cancer screening, Vascular Emergency for admission avoidance.
Clinics run Monday-Friday 8:00-17:30. Staff are expected to cover a stay late at least once a week being till around 18:00 or when the last clinic finishes. Staff may be asked to work in evening and weekend clinics but this is optional at present.

Work with all members of the Ward/Department clinical team within the multi-disciplinary framework. Maintain a high standard of patient care under the direction of the Ward/Department Sister/Charge Nurse.
Act as a leader/ Co-ordinator in the clinical area, in the absence of a more senior member of staff. To work in accordance with the principles set out by the Nursing/Midwifery professional bodies and Trust Policies.

The following skills and experience will be required and are essential for the successful candidates:
- Ensure practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and work within limits of competence.
- To have successfully completed the Trust’s preceptorship programme.

Travelling to work
Staff parking is available onsite; however, this is limited during core working hours. We have more capacity in the evening and at weekends and can usually provide spaces during those hours.
We look to allocate these spaces fairly. Our Travel Office have a set of criteria that staff must meet in order to qualify. If you qualify for a space, you may be placed on a waiting list if we are at full capacity.
The NNUH is served by a number of public buses, and we offer generously discounted monthly passes with First Bus & Konect.
The Costessey Park and Ride runs regularly each day from 06:30 (from P&R) to 20:45 (from NNUH) and this service is free for NHS staff. There is a regular Thickthorn P&R service as well which is free. Applications to the Travel Office are required for this service. We also have a discounted service from the airport P&R if you purchase a bundle. Please see Konect website for further details.
The NNUH host multiple bicycle racks and a salary sacrifice scheme. We also benefit from a Beryl station onsite.
