South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT) provides the hospital services to South Warwickshire from four hospitals:

- Leamington Spa Hospital
- Stratford Hospital
- Ellen Badger Hospital
We also deliver out-of-hospital community services to the whole of Warwickshire and beyond serving a population of more than half a million from various clinics. This includes our Community Teams in North Warwickshire.
What is a Foundation Trust?
South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust was formed on 1 March 2010. A foundation trust status gives us greater freedom to manage our own affairs, and makes us more directly accountable to local people through our Members, who are drawn from the local population and staff.

Probationary Period
All new staff to the Trust will be subject to a standard 6 month probationary period, the details of which will duly follow in your contract of employment.

Agile and Flexible Working
All our staff will have a work base. However the Trust operates as an Agile Working Team therefore staff may be working from home on a regular basis as required by the service. South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust are looking for dedicated and forward-thinking experienced nurses to join our Acute Paediatric Team based at Warwick Hospital. This is an exciting time as we are expanding our senior nurse establishment.
The Paediatric Unit is comprised of; MacGregor Ward, a 17 inpatient Paediatric beds (including a High Dependency Bed), a Paediatric Outpatient Area, and a Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU).

Play an essential role with responsibility for the education, training and practice development of the team. Ensuring the delivery of a consistently high quality and cost effective service.
Deputise for the Clinical Lead and support the ward manager as required.
Establish and maintain effective communication networks within the Multi-disciplinary Team ensuring the best possible care and outcome for children and young people.
Communicate and receive very sensitive clinical information with empathy to children, parents and members of the multi-disciplinary team emphasising the need for the maintenance of confidentiality.
Divide time 75/25 split with Facilitation/Governance role and Clinical.

Provide clinical leadership and establish high quality learning environments through teaching and continuous assessment, by working closely with the team providing individualised programmes of development.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Manage the development of competence and confidence in the delivery of high standards of care whilst being responsive to the needs of patients, relatives and carers as well as service demands.
Manage time effectively between clinical, educational and governance responsibilities.
Attendance at West Midlands Paediatric Critical Care Network and Partners in Paediatrics meetings and events which pertain to training and education.
Manage the Paediatric Incident reporting system, present data, reports and identify and reports pertaining to this.
Ensure that the wards philosophy is in line with the principles of clinical governance and that all staff understand its significance to practice.
Always be aware of and follow Trust policies and procedures.
To participate in the setting and maintaining of high standards of evidence based nursing.
To assess, supervise and evaluate work of nursing staff and learners within the ward environment.
Promote patient and carers involvement in care planning, delivery and evaluation, ensuring all new starters and learners develop the necessary skills to do this appropriate to the individuals role.
