Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, with services covering the local authority areas of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. The Trust is part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS) supporting a population of around 1.6 million people.
We have three main hospitals providing acute services to around 330,000 local residents. The organisation also provides specialist tertiary care for cardiac and haematology services, delivers community health services to over 445,000 residents including those in North Lancashire and hosts the National Artificial Eye Service across England. Plus, we provide urgent and emergency care services to an estimated 18 million people who visit the seaside resort each year. We employ over 7000 people from 68 different countries.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Tertiary Division:
This is a challenging role in which the post holder will act as Deputy Divisional Director of Operations for the Tertiary Division whilst maintaining managerial responsibility for their own individual portfolio and associated scope of responsibility. This portfolio includes Cardiothoracic Theatres, Cardiology Labs, Cardiac Intensive Care and the Cardiac Anaesthesia Department – all based on the Blackpool Victoria Hospital site. This is an exciting and diverse role as its crosses multiple specialities, giving the post-holder a wide breadth of experience.
The post holder will work as part of the Divisional Senior Management Team to provide operational, staffing and budget management. The post holder will be responsible for the efficient and effective day-to-day running of all services within the Division to ensure delivery of operational performance targets (finance, activity, workforce and quality/safety), the achievement of service objectives and local and national standards relevant to the service areas.

The post -holder is required to work alongside (and deputise for) the Divisional Director of Operations whilst managing their own portfolio comprising Cardiothoracic Theatres, Cardiology Labs, Cardiac Intensive Care and the Cardiac Anaesthesia Department. The post-holder will be responsible for leading and delivering success across a wide range of transformation and improvement workstreams and lead on strategic and operational planning in a fast-moving work environment. The role is highly demanding but also rewarding with the requirement to meet strict deadlines within a limited time and to manage projects through to full delivery.
