We provide a full range of acute clinical services from Northampton General Hospital and Danetre Hospital in Daventry. We are a designated cancer centre and have recently invested in a number of additional specialist services, including in-patient renal services and interventional cardiology. All elective inpatients and emergency admissions are screened for MRSA. As part of our work to improve clinical outcomes we are taking part in a national patient safety programme and have invested in systems to capture patients views on the service we provide. We understand that sometimes a small change can make a big difference for patients.

Job overview
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Operating Officer for Kettering General Hospital, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring a continued state of preparedness across University Hospitals Northampton (UHN) comprising Kettering General Hospital and Northampton General Hospital to respond to any major or significant incident both planned and unscheduled ensuring, that where practical, measures are in place to maintain continuity of its core business.
The post holder will ensure that legal and regulatory requirements that apply to UHN are met including training, planning and co-ordination working with NHSE/I, Local NHS Commissioners, multi-agency partners and the local resilience forum.
The post holder will further develop expertise in emergency planning and seek to develop good practice by using lessons identified from experiences and debriefs of incidents, exercises and events nationally.
The post holder will ensure that emergency planning and resilience is an integral part of business planning, strategy and operations across UHN.

The post holder will be responsible for coordinating all Business Continuity Activity (including Business Continuity Plans and Business Continuity Impact Analysis and ensuring all areas have the right plans in place to respond to incidents and periods of disruption.

·Responsible for the preparation, maintenance, exercising and compliance of UHN Emergency Preparedness, Business Continuity and Resilience Plans in accordance with local and national guidance.
· Responsible for ensuring that UHN is compliant with all statutory requirements appertaining to emergency and resilience planning with reference to the Civil Contingency Act and regulations which are derived from the Act including

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Head of Emergency Preparedness, Resilience & Response (EPRR) will manage the EPRR team and its portfolio covering the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire including Northampton General Hospital and Kettering General Hospital Foundation Trust, ensuring the Trust remains resilient to incidents and disruptive events. The EPRR Team will enable the organisation, as a Category 1 responder, to meet the full statutory duties under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, ensuring alignment of the Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) to ISO22301 and NHS England Core standards for EPRR, and evolving national guidance, supporting the site operations team to manage incidents effectively.
To ensure the delivery of effective and comprehensive planning arrangements at the Trust, Divisional and Service level underpinned by a coherent overall strategic approach to EPRR.
At Northampton General Hospital we provide general acute services and hyper-acute stroke, vascular and renal services to people living in Northamptonshire. As well as this we are an accredited cancer centre and provide cancer services to a wider population of Northamptonshire and parts of Buckinghamshire.

- Relevant Masters / MBA or significant relevant professional experience in a resilience-related environment
- DipHEPRR, CBCI or DipBCM and/or other relevant EPRR qualification
- Evidence of continued professional development

Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Substantial experience of working in the emergency planning and resilience environment at a local and regional level
- Direct experience in managing crisis and recovery arrangements
- A track record in undertaking skill training for staff in operational settings
- Extensive experience in planning, testing, and implementing emergency planning and business continuity arrangements with diverse and multi-disciplinary services
- Extensive experience in multi-agency planning, testing, and working concerning emergency planning and business continuity
- Direct experience in analysing, understanding, and ensuring compliance with national/local policies and guidelines
- Evidence of developing network relationships and working collaboratively across LHRFs and wider networks
- Specific and expert knowledge of the principles underpinning emergency planning and business continuity
- Specialist knowledge and experience in planning response for major incidents in a complex environment involving government agencies or local government service providers
- Demonstrable evidence of previous work at a strategic level in the area of emergency planning/business continuity and government resilience response
- An understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion
- Knowledge of public sector/NHS work structures and management of the EPRR agenda
