Are you passionate about contributing to medical research? The NIHR UCLH Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is looking for a dedicated Clinical Trial Research Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role offers the unique opportunity to be part of cutting-edge clinical trials and make a real impact on the future of healthcare.
The NIHR UCLH CRF operates across two sites in London: a comprehensive Cancer and Medical Research facility on the Bloomsbury campus at Tottenham Court Road and the Leonard Wolfson Experimental Neurology Centre at Queen Square. These state-of-the-art facilities focus on advancing medical research, particularly in infectious diseases and early-phase trials.
This vacancy has been advertised in accordance with the new NHS pay rate which will take effect from autumn 2024. Please note if your employment starts before the 24/25 pay scales are implemented you will be paid under the 23/24 pay scales and any backpay will be adjusted accordingly. Participant Recruitment: You will identify and recruit healthy volunteers for clinical trials. This includes pre-screening volunteers, scheduling clinic visits, and maintaining an accurate volunteer database. You will ensure that our trials are conducted efficiently and effectively.
Data Management: Accurate data collection and management are crucial to clinical trials. You will facilitate data collection, entry, and management, ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) requirements. You will work closely with study nurses and research fellows to develop source documentation and meet all protocol requirements.
Administration and Coordination: You will provide administrative support to the clinical trials team, including scheduling appointments and managing documentation. You will help ensure that all study-related activities are well-coordinated and that participants have a positive experience. Your organizational skills and attention to detail will be essential.
Governance and Quality Assurance: High standards of governance and quality assurance are priorities at NIHR UCLH CRF. You will contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and participate in systems audits. You will manage trial-specific human tissue samples, ensuring compliance with current laws and guidelines. Your commitment to quality will uphold the highest standards in clinical research.

- First degree in scientific/healthcare related discipline or equivalent experience
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in and/or conducting research in, health or social care setting
- Experience of systematic data collection and entry
- Understanding of UK Clinical Trials Regulations, the European Directives on Clinical Trials and the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research.
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and good knowledge and understanding of other related standards such as Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) and Good Manufacturing Practice
Desirable criteria
- Experience working on vaccine trials
- Experience in the clinical trial recruitment processes
