Job overview
The Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to recruit an experienced client facing Construction Project Manager to undertake capital investment projects, major refurbishments and critical infrastructure upgrades within the Trusts acute building stock. The Estates Directorate has a substantial capital programme and ambitious Estates Strategy to deliver, the successful candidate will form part of an in-house planning and capital team to deliver on these strategic objectives.
A sound knowledge of the development of capital schemes from inception to practical completion is required with the ability to manage construction professionals and Trust stakeholders engaged in the design & construction process. Knowledge and experience of the NEC3 suite of contracts and various procurement routes are integral to this role.
The ability to effectively manage construction contractors and design professionals to ensure projects are delivered within the parameters of time, cost and quality is a fundamental requirement. The successful candidate must have the skills, drive and determination to deliver to provision of world class clinical services to achieve the Trusts vision and standard of care.

The Estates Department manages a major programme of capital, new works and refurbishment schemes.
The Project team is integral to the success of this activity.
The post holder will:
- Act as Trust Estates project lead and/or support specific developments and projects that will impact on services across the Trust.
- Constantly aware of the direct affect and impact upon the environment, safety and comfort of patients, staff and members of the public and Respond pro-actively as required.
- Required to integrate the Trust’s service requirements with those of the Specialty managers and users of the service.
- Manage and interpolate technical incoming information and disseminate down to other members of the projects team, setting relevant priorities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
A proven track record of scheme delivery within or without the NHS is expected to be demonstrated. The successful candidates will form part of a multi-disciplinary Capital Team, reporting into the Trust Capital Projects Manager responsible for overall programme delivery.
This senior post will be the lead role for the conception, planning and management of the Trust capital schemes across three sites giving professional specialist advice to other Senior Estates and staff members of the Trust.
The post holder will be required to:
- Commission and project manage a range of major capital or new works projects.
- Take the lead role in planning and design of schemes interfacing with Senior Managers of the Trust.
- Give specialist estates advice to the Trust.
- Responsible for the production of feasibility schemes.
- Design and Manage in-house design works.
- Work with others to ensure affordable capital programmes consistent with business priorities are delivered.
- Line manage a project team Building/Engineering/CAD operatives and consultant specialists.
- Manage a variety of Building/Engineering schemes which involve multi-disciplinary teams:

- Contractors
