Job overview

ENT – new ear service
ENT outpatients at freeman hospital are looking to appoint within the department as part of an exciting developing service for ear care. This post would suit a nurse with some ENT experience or someone who is keen to learn all about ENT procedures undertaken in clinics. The successful candidate will be trained up in ear care alongside the current staff to provide support and eventually to hold independent clinics.

Theatres
Specialist theatres including Cardio Thoracic Surgery, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology and a temp 9 month part time post in gynaecology. Candidates must have experience within the theatre environment.
Ward 35 Neonates
A busy level 3 Neonatal Unit comprising of 12 ITU, 14 High dependency and 12 Low dependency cots . We provide care for Term and Preterm babies who require support at birth. We care for babies with complex health needs, babies who require Surgical intervention, Neurological or Cardiac input.
Our Nursing team rotate within all areas of the Ward. We provide an excellent staff development programme and facilitate the opportunity for career progression. We welcome Registered Adult nurses to apply. Neonatal and Intensive Care experience is desirable, but not essential.

Ward 36 Freeman Hospital
- Ward 36 is a fast paced acute day unit administering systemic Anti-Cancer therapy (SACT) to patients with an oncological or haematological malignancy. In addition to administering SACT we also care for patient undergoing supportive treatments such as: blood transfusions, immunoglobulin and venesections. We see between 60-80 patients daily.
- Staff will be expected to train within the administration of chemotherapy and immunotherapy within 6-12months of employment through course attendance and completion of UKONS SACT passport.
- We also hold the UKONS 24hour triage phone, triaging patients who are unwell whilst on treatment and run an acute emergency assessment unit for patients who need to attend hospital and potentially need admission.
- The unit is open 08:00-19:00 seven days a week including bank holidays, therefore weekend working and bank holiday working is an essential part of the role.
- In addition we run a community SACT clinic in Cramlington Manor Walks Shopping Centre on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays therefore rotation between the two sites is essential.
- Full time hours: 37 Hours 30 Minutes/Week
Shift pattern: x2 LD (08:00-19:00) and x2 E (08:00-17:00) over a seven day service.
