In Our South Oxon CAMHS Getting More Help Team we are proud to be developing a needs-led, responsive and accessible service based on the Thrive Model.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist to work in our 'Getting More Help' Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team (CAMHS) and make a real difference to the lives of young people that are referred.
You will be working as part of a multi disciplinary team, consisting of Nurses, Social workers, Occupational therapists, Family therapists, Clinical Psychologists and Psychiatrists, with plenty of opportunity for sharing skills and knowledge. You'll be able to access supervision and training to support you in this role. we offer individual and peer supervision, along with regular reflective space.

You will take part in the Getting More Help CAMHS Duty system, responding to, offering support and signposting to concerned young people, families and professionals when there has been a change in presentation or risk, whilst open to the service or on the waiting list. Participate in clinical meetings, case conferences, reviews, strategy meetings, CETRs and other professional meetings as appropriate. To participate in meetings and mitigation calls relevant to service provision.
You will deliver generic mental health assessments and risk assessments of children and young people open to the Getting More Help team. Depending on the needs of the young person, this could be on an urgent or routine basis.

The team serves the community of Abingdon, Didcot, Wantage, Henley, Thame and the surrounding villages and parts of Oxford City, providing a service that operates Monday - Friday 9am-5pm. We welcome conversations and visits if that would be helpful to understand the role a little bit more.

Essential criteria
- Relevant professional qualification e.g. registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Children’s Social Worker.
- Current registration with relevant professional body – eg NMC, HCPC
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with Children, Young people and families
- Experience of working in a community setting
Knowledge Requirements
Essential criteria
- Understanding of working with children and young people with a wide range of mental health needs.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of a range motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy and a psychological therapy (i.e. CBT/DBT)
- Knowledge of Child and Adult Protection work

- Able to manage a caseload, set priorities and work with members of a multi-disciplinary team
- Compassionate - Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers and relatives remaining sensitive and empathic
