- All posts are subject to NHS pre-employment checks including occupational health clearance and DBS (where appropriate).
- All pay progression is conditional upon a positive outcome at annual appraisal.
- All successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month’s pay. You will be required to sign a DBS payment form which will be issued to you as part of your recruitment process.

To act as an autonomous practitioner working alongside Consultant Radiologists to lead on the clinical development of mammography practice.
To provide expert clinical knowledge in the field of breast imaging for the benefit of patients.
Work independently and unsupervised as an expert practitioner in performing diagnostic breast procedures.
Exercise and demonstrate advanced levels of clinical judgement, discretion and clinical decision making.
To act as a source of expert knowledge for the clinical aspects of breast imaging, underpinned by theory and experience.
Be responsible for diagnosing benign and malignant breast conditions and
discussing the findings of such examinations with the patients.
To work closely with Consultant colleagues to drive the clinical development of the breast imaging service.
Work closely with the operational management team to shape and implement service delivery, promoting best practice and auditing current practice.
To provide education and training in their specialist field to other professionals, multidisciplinary groups, patients and carers.
Delivers and takes responsibility for training and education within mammography
To work in collaboration with other professional groups and provide consultant level leadership.
To work closely with Consultant colleagues to drive the clinical development of the mammography service.
Leads and takes responsibility for research within and involving mammography practice.
Member of a team delivering a high quality efficient and effective mammographic service, performing and independently reporting examinations on a daily basis.
Play a pivotal role in the integration of research evidence into clinical practice, delivering enhanced quality in breast imaging and improving the outcomes for patients.
To provide a consultant radiographer service which is interchangeable with a consultant radiologist to ensure seamless service delivery.
Provide specialist radiological expertise and advice in advanced clinical practice with a defined focus.
To be an agent for change within defined clinical and organisational boundaries.
To function at a higher level of practice demonstrating higher levels of decision making, planning and collaborative working.
To analyse complex information from multiple sources and translate findings into recommendations, policy decisions and actions.
To lead quality initiatives to continuously improve clinical care standards in line with the clinical governance framework to ensure the highest quality of care is provide in the safest manner.
Able to demonstrate a professional and caring approach to patients.

- State registered (HCPC) BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent, with a detailed knowledge of imaging techniques, radiation physics, anatomy and physiology medical terminology, pathological conditions, patient assessment and overall care
- Post graduate certificate in mammographic practice.
- MSc in breast imaging or post graduate certificates in all areas of breast imaging with specialist knowledge at consultant level.
- Substantial period working as an advanced practitioner in breast imaging.

- Able to communicate highly complex and specialist information effectively with patients, explaining procedures carefully, gain their consent and continue to reassure throughout highly technical procedure, be understood where English is not the first language or where there are significant barriers to understanding i.e. learning difficulties etc.
- Able to effectively and clearly explain highly complex and often sensitive procedures, findings and outcomes to patients using the appropriate language. Able to persuade/negotiate with difficult patients e.g. upset children, patients in pain sedated or intoxicated.
- Receive highly sensitive/confidential information regarding patient condition / welfare /status
- Communicate highly complex and specialist information with colleagues within the department and on the wards. This may be oral, written or electronic and essential for the smooth running of the service.
