Background:
The KSS IAT Programmes are the NIHR-funded Academic Training Programmes resulting from the partnership between NHS England Kent Surrey Sussex (NHSE-SE WTE - the ‘KSS Deanery’), Brighton and Sussex Medical School, Kent and Medway Medical School, and specific NHS Trusts within KSS to provide integrated clinical and academic training within the NIHR Integrated Academic Training pathway. There are currently nine ACF and 2 ACL posts appointed annually across KSS. Academic Training in certain clinical specialties, leadership and medical education starts in the second year of Foundation Training (FY2). There are currently 18 SFP posts across KSS (12 in Sussex, 3 in Surrey and 3 in Kent).
Summary of Role
The Academic Training Programme Director (ATPD) post offers an important, varied and rewarding role within the partnership and is vital in helping to select, support, develop and mentor academic trainees, and support the academic, clinical and educational supervisors to support them, working closely with IAT and SFP Leads from the HEIs in KSS.
We are appointing one individual to lead as the Academic Training Programme Director to join our existing KSS Deanery team. The role is for 2PAs (0.2WTE).
The ATPD will act to ensure effective mentor of Academic Clinical Fellows (ACFs), Clinical Lecturers (CLs) and SFPs from a number of specialties. The post-holders will work closely with, and be accountable to, the Postgraduate Dean.
