The remit of this post sits predominantly within inpatient neurological rehabilitation services, but will include clinical and service oversight to stroke and older adult services. The post holder will be an experienced Speech and Language Therapist with highly specialist knowledge of differential diagnosis associated with complex tracheostomy and upper airway management. Experience of working with adults with complex acquired disorders of communication and swallowing is essential, including competence in tracheostomy management.

The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the team, delivering an efficient and clinically effective service. The successful applicant will be expected to hold a clinical caseload and be highly skilled in their field.
Strong leadership, interpersonal and team-working skills are essential as you will provide line management and competency development to staff. You will be expected to lead on quality improvement and implement teaching, training as well as provide supervision.
You will be joining the Trust which actively encourages innovation and service development, such as our recently established in-patient FEES service.

- The operational management of the in-patient SLT team
- To provide clinical leadership to the team and other MDT colleagues
- Ensuring the delivery of service and clinical outcomes are in line with Local and National Guidelines
- To develop service and financial plans, which are compatible with the strategic direction of the organisation
- Providing clinical expertise to patients, colleagues, the multidisciplinary team, the organisation and appropriate stakeholders
- Supporting the development and delivery of the clinical governance programme and working alongside senior nursing and other AHP colleagues on quality initiatives
- Responsible for the local interpretation and application of clinical and professional policies.
- Key link with local universities for the strategic management of pre-registration placement education
- To provide line management for Speech and Language Therapists

In accordance with UK Home Office requirements, Band 2 clinical and non-clinical roles and Band 3 Non-Clinical roles are not eligible for sponsorship.
Please note that the majority of non-clinical roles (Agenda for Change Band 3 - 6) with the exception of those which appear on this list - link, will not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK.
All non-clinical roles (Agenda for Change Bands 7 - 9) that meet the prescribed skill level (RQF 6) and salary threshold will be eligible for sponsorship.
The Trust will accept applications from candidates who can evidence their right to work in the UK or via alternative visa routes.

DBS Costs
Please be aware that all new employees starting work with the Trust will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary in 3 payments over a 3-month period once you start employment. By applying for this role, you are agreeing to these deductions being made. The charges for the DBS include the administration fee. The total costs are £26.40 for a standard check and £54.40 for an enhanced check. The level of check will be determined by the post you are applying for. For bank Workers the full cost of the DBS check (as detailed above) will be deducted from your pay following completion of your online mandatory training. No payment will be made for your online training until it is all complete and verified by the Temporary Staffing Team. Please note: You will not be able to work any bank shifts until you have completed your mandatory training, and your DBS is in place.
