The United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (ULTH) is one of the largest trusts in the country. Through four main hospitals we provide a comprehensive range of hospital-based medical, surgical, paediatric, obstetric and gynaecological services to the 700,000 people of Lincolnshire.
We provide a wide range of healthcare services delivered by 8,600 highly trained staff and volunteers. Our services cost over £400m each year to provide and we invest around £18m each year in improving our clinical services by replacing and upgrading our medical equipment, modernising our estate and facilities and improving our information and technology infrastructure. In an average year, we treat more than 180,000 A&E patients, nearly half a million outpatients and almost 100,000 inpatients.

For all other Medical Workforce positions, the full-time entitlement commences from 27 days per annum.

Waddington Unit Band 6
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an adult nurse to join our friendly and energetic team on Waddington Unit as a Deputy Ward Manager. We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic and a self-motivated nurse to join our well-established team. Waddington Unit is a 26 bedded haematology and oncology ward that cares for acutely ill patients.
Waddington has a new Oncology Assessment Unit which is attached to Waddington Unit. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to rotate into the OAU Unit whilst learning oncology triages, chemotherapy and oncology emergencies.

The role involves working as an autonomous practitioner and will include working on a fast paced admission unit providing holistic palliative care to end of life patients as well as managing the conditions and side effects associated with cancer, curative and palliative chemotherapy and radiotherapy including neutropenic sepsis, superior vena cava obstruction, spinal cord compression, pain management and hypercalcemia as well as the administration of immunoglobulins and all blood products. The position offers an opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in the administration of cytotoxic chemotherapy and to assist with intrathecal chemotherapy following appropriate training.
Experience in looking after patients with the above conditions is essential, you will need a minimum of a years experience in cancer care. Our well established team will support you to gain a range of extended skills and knowledge to contribute to continuing professional development including, intravenous administration pack, central venous access devices and chemotherapy administration with support and guidance whilst learning.
You will have the opportunity to attend study days to enhance your skills and knowledge such as haematology and oncology specific training in ULHT and external education days.
