We have an exciting opportunity for an Clinical Specialist Nurse to shape, develop and to be the one of the first to join our mental health team at HMP Millsike, a brand new Category B men's prison, located in the village of Full Sutton near York.
HMP Millsike will have an operational capacity of 1500 people who will spend their sentences learning the skills they need to find work on release as part of the government’s drive to cut reoffending. The prison site is currently under construction and Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust were recently awarded the Mental Health Service contract to begin delivering services in April 2025.
This is a rare opportunity to be part of a new mental health team of a brand new prison site.
Your clinical expertise and extensive knowledge will support the delivery of Mental Health provision and develop pathways, quality care and clinical governance structures.
You will have extensive experience of working within an prison or wider forensic services. You will have a positive and compassion focused attitude towards service users within the prison environment. You will have an awareness of the clinical difficulties that arise for individuals within secure environments and be able to lead by example. The post requires the highest standards of professional practice, and exceptional communication and relationship skills.

We are looking for an experienced Nurse who will thrive amongst the multi-disciplinary team of professionals to assess, plan and provide patient care. You will work within a team of Registered Mental Health and Learning Disability Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Langauge Therapists, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Primary Care Mental Health Practitioners as well as wider partner agencies including primary care services, social care and prison colleagues.
We offer robust supervision arrangements and a comprehensive induction and workforce development plan with a vast array of personal, professional and academic training opportunities enabling you to expand your skill set and evidence based practices.
You will be required to be; innovative, flexible and able to engage clients with complex needs. We require the post holders to be committed to equal opportunities and non-discriminatory practices and reflect the trust values of Responsibility, Respect and Compassion.
The post holder will be the professional lead for nurses within the teams, leading on professional development and the delivery of robust evidence based practice. They will ensure high professional standards of nursing.

Here at Tees, Esk and Wear Valley Foundation NHS Trust we want you to have a positive experience when you start your new role with us. To ensure you have great welcome, for all new starters joining the Trust, we offer two start dates per month on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of that Month.
On your start date, you will be invited to our in person Trust Welcome Day at our Flatts Lane Centre, Middlesborough. Your first day will be engaging and informative, it will allow you to meet and network with a range of Trust staff, learn more about us and what we offer. For certain clinical roles, your Welcome Day could then be followed by up to 9 days face to face training. If this is applicable to you, further information will be provided ahead of your Welcome Day.

- Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RMN / RNLD/ RGN (RNSC - CAMHS Only)
- Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor or currently in progress of achieving.
- Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing Clinical Supervision or in the process of achieving
- Postgraduate diploma in a subject relevant to the area Or be willing to work towards and achieve within 2 years and
