This is an apprentice post that will require the post holder to complete the Level 6 Diagnostic Radiographer Degree Apprenticeship.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, caring, and dedicated person keen to train as a diagnostic radiographer, who will join our growing Imaging department.
This is a unique radiographer apprenticeship opportunity to work and train in the Radiology Department at University College Hospital London in the heart of central London, rotating through our various satellite sites.
The work will involve direct contact with patients of all ages and their families, as well as liaising with medical staff.
This is a challenging role where the successful apprentice candidate will study towards the BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging (pre-registration) over 36 months with the University of Exeter.

Applicants need to be minimum of 18 years of age when they start the apprenticeship (anticipated March 2025). Successful applicants must meet the academic entry requirements of the University of Exeter for this course which can be found within the person specification in the job description or in the link above.

Successful applicants will be embedded within the Radiology department working 80% of their hours alongside our team, and study with the University of Exeter for the remainder of their time. Upon completion of the three year course, you will gain a BSc Honours in Diagnostic Radiography and be eligible for professional registration with the HCPC.
This fully funded programme allows you to study and earn a wage at the same time, with extensive workplace learning and practice, supported by academic learning at the University and through distance learning, and self-study.
We are looking for candidates who are flexible, adaptable and patient focussed, aiming to deliver the highest standards of clinical care. The post holder will liaise with qualified radiographers and the wider multi-disciplinary team.
You will be trained to undertake a wide range of imaging work including A&E, General Radiography, Orthopaedic out-patients, Theatre, and Portables, with opportunities to rotate through Fluoroscopy, CT, MRI and Ultrasound.

Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- 5 CGSEs grade C or above to include Maths and English (or equivalent). These will be requested before being invited to an assessment.
- University entry requirements: 3 A levels or Equivalent Level 3 qualification e.g. BTEC National Diploma or NVQ Level 3 – in science related subjects (physics, biology or chemistry)
- On entry into programme: Demonstrate a willingness to undertake the radiographer practitioner degree apprenticeship course to gain professional registration with HCPC (Failure to achieve this would result in termination of contract)
- Be able to demonstrate continuous professional development
- Apprentices whose first language is not English need to meet IELTS requirements of at least 7.0 overall and no less than 6.5 in any other section

- Good understanding of legislation relating to Health and Safety and radiation protection
Experience
Essential criteria
- Recent clinical experience working in the radiology department
- Experience in carrying out assigned duties /assisting qualified radiology staff
- Evidence of interest in radiology and its application in healthcare
- Able to use Microsoft Office. Able to use hospital ICT systems.

- Recent experience of working with service users within the healthcare setting
