Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We provide a full range of hospital and community services for people in south London and as well as specialist care for patients from further afield including cancer, renal, orthopaedic, respiratory and cardiovascular services.
Guy’s is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre opened in 2016. As part of our commitment to provide care closer to home, in 2017 we also opened a cancer centre and a kidney treatment centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. St Thomas’ has one of the largest critical care units in the UK and one of the busiest emergency departments in London. It is also home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Evelina London cares for local children in Lambeth and Southwark and provides specialist services across south east England including cardiac, renal and critical care services. We lead a number of specialist service networks aiming to ensure children are treated locally where possible, but have access to specialist expertise when they need it. Our community services include health visiting, school nursing and support for families of children with long-term conditions.
Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Working with our partners in Lambeth and Southwark, we are focusing on new ways of working to improve care for local patients.
In February 2021 the Royal Brompton and Harefield joined Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, bringing together world-leading expertise in the care and research of heart and lung disease. Our merger provides a once in a generation opportunity to build a lasting, world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research.

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and ambitious person to join the Radiology Management team and take a leading role in the General Imaging Department on the Guy’s Hospital site.
The successful applicant will join our team of Superintendent Radiographers at Guys and St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust. As one of the NHS’s most successful and highly regarded teaching hospitals we are able to provide enviable opportunities for you to develop your career. The General Imaging Department provides both in patient and out patient services for a wide range of specialities.
As a Superintendent you will need to demonstrate effective management and leadership of a team of staff. You will have a proven track record of supporting staff through leadership, managing projects and devising and implementing change. You will be able to deliver a high quality service, work to deadlines whilst also coordinating workflow and delivering teaching and training. You will provide expert knowledge in the full range of general and fluoroscopic imaging procedures.

- Responsible for the delivery of high quality general imaging services on the Guy’s Hospital site in both radiology and theatre environments.
- Contribute to the strategic development of the general imaging and fluoroscopy services.
- Perform a range of high quality general imaging services on the Guy’s site for both inpatient and outpatient services, fluoroscopy and theatre environments.
- Supervision, training and development of the radiographic team in general, theatre and fluoroscopic imaging in both the delivery of service and individual development needs.
- Undertake management of Radiographers including PDRs, absence management and recruitment.
- To act as the Radiation Protection Supervisor for all general and fluoroscopy imaging areas including theatre at the Guy’s site.
- Management of Service and performance against key metrics & access targets.
- To manage the maintenance and repair schedule for imaging hardware and liaise with the Medical Physics Department concerning radiation safety issues of equipment and processes.
- Demonstrate partnership in professional development issues maintaining a high level of technical and theoretical skills through personal CPD.
