We provide a full range of acute clinical services from Northampton General Hospital and Danetre Hospital in Daventry. We are a designated cancer centre and have recently invested in a number of additional specialist services, including in-patient renal services and interventional cardiology. All elective inpatients and emergency admissions are screened for MRSA. As part of our work to improve clinical outcomes we are taking part in a national patient safety programme and have invested in systems to capture patients views on the service we provide. We understand that sometimes a small change can make a big difference for patients.

Are you a proactive, enthusiastic person looking for a new experience or the next step in your career? We have an exciting opportunity for a band 4 Senior Therapy Technical Instructor (STTI) to join our established team of therapists to work with the urgent care and frailty therapy team at Northampton General Hospital.
The team consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Support Staff and you will be supported by the qualified staff in the role and encouraged to develop your knowledge and skills. The successful candidate will work alongside the therapy staff and the wider multi-disciplinary team on the Nye Bevan Assessment Unit, the Emergency Department and the Frailty Assessment Unit.
Our service is currently moving from a 5-day service to 7 days per week. The successful candidate will be expected to be part of the weekend service rota and the possibility of developing into extended hours.
We are recruiting for a senior technical Instructor who shares our ambition and vision of being dedicated to excellence and has the drive to take us forward.

The post holder will:
· Actively provide therapy care for patients as part of the multi-disciplinary team at NGH
· Provide specific evidence based assessments and treatments under the indirect supervision of qualified therapist using a therapy framework.
· Provide technical skills to assist a qualified Therapist in treating a variety of patients.
· Provide therapy care to in-patients and occasionally patients in their own homes
· Have access to, read and understand medical notes and information from the MDT to inform decision making regarding suitability for intervention
· Be able to interpret clinical observations and understand the implications of therapy interventions
· Represent Therapies at ward board rounds, gaining information to feedback to the qualified Therapists and communicating any relevant Therapy updates relating to patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Takes responsibility to ensure that Professional Registration is up to date at all times and does not lapse or expire and to inform line management immediately with any concerns of if registration lapses or expires (all registered staff).
This post involves treatment to children and/or adults at risk, as defined by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). It will therefore be necessary for the post holder to apply for and be in receipt of a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check. (this statement relates to patient facing clinical roles)
The Trust requires all new starters to subscribe to the DBS update service, where it is a requirement of the role.
Be responsible for maintaining own vaccinations that are applicable to the role.
Safeguard patient confidentiality at all times, including adherence to the Data Protection Act.
Attend statutory and mandatory training and refresher courses as necessary.

- Personal portfolio of evidence of work based learning in healthcare
