We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated registered nurse to join the Abdominal Transplant Co-ordinator Team as a Living Kidney Donor Co-ordinator.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with past experience working in a relevant specialty, such as renal nursing or transplantation. You will be responsible for supporting potential donors through the assessment process, ensuring a high standard of person-centred care from the initial point of contact through to donation and aftercare.
You will also progress to facilitating transplants from deceased donors as part of an on-call rota.

You will be expected to implement effective management and organisational skills, co-ordinating and facilitating the living donor programme. This includes organising relevant medical investigations, delivering counselling to potential donors and recipients and managing a patient caseload.
You must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, their relatives and members of the wider multi-disciplinary team, both within the Trust and regionally.
You must be able to demonstrate a compassionate approach to the care of patients, whilst working within the legal and ethical guidelines surrounding organ donation.
You will adapt to changes in practise and contribute to service improvement and audits within the programme in order to improve the patient experience.
You will be supported in developing skills to safely facilitate abdominal organ transplants as part of an on-call rota.

- The primary role of the post holder is to work within the multi-disciplinary abdominal transplant team and provide expert specialist individual care to patients and their carers during their progression through the transplant process.
- Coordinate and facilitate the live donor programme in line with the British Transplant Society Standards on live donation. There is strong commitment to education and health promotion as well as a supportive role for the transplant recipients and their families and live donors in the short and long term.
- The on call responsibility includes the organisation of kidney, renal, liver, pancreas and islet cell transplantation.
- Representation at National Meetings as Lead Specialist for the Trust.
- Provides specialist education and training.
