Job overview
Following a secondment, a senior role has become available within the Pharmacy Directorate Team, which is part of the Medical Directorate.
Supporting various workstreams in delivering high quality, safe and effective care across care pathways within Joined Up Care Derbyshire, you will be providing operational expertise to an experienced, redesigned, Pharmacy Team moving into its next chapter as an ICB, working with the wider healthcare system to integrate pharmacy and medicines optimisation.
You will support the Head of Pharmacy Governance and the work of the Medical Directorate in delivering high quality, safe and effective care across Joined Up Care Derbyshire.
This post is offered as a fixed term or secondment opportunity until 31st August 2025. Candidates should ensure they have their employers support, in line with their employers processes, prior to making a secondment application.

Advert
- Develop, implement and monitor standards for medication safety and safe prescribing
- Support the ICB Patient Safety Specialist with medication safety and safe prescribing
- Support the ICB to meet Controlled Drugs (CD) responsibilities
- Support, lead and/or manage relevant incidents involving medicines and prescribable products
- Participate in the investigation of never events, safeguarding issues and serious incidents
- Share knowledge and awareness of the patient safety agenda and learning from incidents across the ICB and ICS, through local networks and national information
- Promote, influence and enhance a culture of medicines safety across the health economy by involving stakeholders, including patients and the public
- Liaise with other ICB and ICS teams in the development of medication safety awareness and learning across the ICB and ICS
- Actively participate in and contribute to regional and national medicines safety officer networks; sharing learning and resources as relevant
- Work with the Head of Pharmacy to develop and implement Antimicrobial Stewardship across Derbyshire
- Support the ICB’s infection prevention and control team with the delivery of local and national infection control targets by providing advice on treatment and prescribing
- Support the Head of Pharmacy with pharmaceutical input to Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) and liaison with the OCC

Essential criteria
- Current professional registration as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Postgraduate diploma / MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacy Practice (or working towards such a qualification) or equivalent experience
- Experience of working in more than one sector of pharmacy i.e. primary care, secondary care or community pharmacy
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of GP practice clinical systems and how the individual practices employ the use of them
- Knowledge and ability to produce, analyse, present and interpret in-depth analysis of highly complex prescribing and financial trends and local and national comparators

- Must be able to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information, negotiate with senior stakeholders on difficult and controversial issues, and present complex and sensitive information to large and influential groups
