Job overview

We are looking to recruit an ambitious doctor who will join our enthusiastic team and invite applications from candidates with a passion to deliver an outstanding service to our rheumatology patients across the Health Board.
As a senior employee of the Health Board, the post holder will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Health Board’s patients.
Advert
The post is pivotal to the continued development and quality of Rheumatology services provided by the Health Board and will support the existing Consultants.
This appointment will provide care to patients from across the Health Board Health Board. The principal place of employment being Withybush General Hospital, although other working locations including off site working may be necessary and will form part of your agreed job plan. This will be subject to change as the Health Board’s clinical requirements are amended to meet the needs of the service/patients.
Other hospitals at which duties are performed: In view of the fact that the organisation is currently undertaking a review of its services and the locations at which they are undertaken, it is important to be aware that work patterns may change and the place(s) of duties modified. The Clinical Strategy of the Health Board is under constant development and the job holder may be required to undertake different duties agreed at the time of appointment

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
47 general practices (6 of which are managed practices), 45 dental practices (including 4 orthodontic), 96 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Essential criteria
- Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
- On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT due ) within 6 months of interview date
- Or CESR or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration
- MRCP or equivalent

- Appropriate Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD or MSc or equivalent
Clinical Experience

- Broad based experience in Rheumatology
