Band 6 Lymphoedema Practitioner
Part Time 22.5 hrs per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a nurse or therapist to join our well established Lymphoedema Service.
The successful candidate will work within the Lymphoedema Service and will work closely with the Tissue Viability and Leg Ulcer Services.
You will join a small team of passionate and motivated clinicians who work closely together to provide the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Training will be provided to develop knowledge and skills within the speciality. We will welcome applications from clinicians with a keen interest in chronic oedema assessment and management.

· To promote high standards of tissue viability and chronic oedema assessment and management, acting as a role model to support best practice.
To carry out lymphoedema assessments forming differential diagnosis and establishing individual patient needs, negotiating specialist care plans and discussing the impact that they have on patients'/carers' lifestyles and wellbeing.
· Provide specialist advice and support for staff caring for patients with chronic oedema.
· To make and receive referrals, maintaining a high profile in the clinical area.
· To use knowledge and skills to empower patients to self care and make informed choices about their care.
· To liaise with appropriate members of the multi- disciplinary team and wider healthcare team to ensure co-ordination and continuity of care.
· To ensure effective communication between patients and health care professionals, providing written and verbal information on all appropriate treatments and expected outcomes.
· Work as an independent practitioner.
· To support the Clinical Lead to manage the overarching caseloads.
· To manage own caseload and diary ensuring timely reviews and discharges.
· Provide up-to-date, evidence based/best practice advice on wound assessment and management, use of dressings/ pressure relieving equipment, compression garments etc.
· To run lymphoedema clinics as part of the wider Tissue Viability and Lymphoedema team

Salary is determined by NHS experience and current banding/pay point. External applicants will begin at the entry point of the salary scale in line with NHS terms and conditions.
